Sorry guys for the delayed response. I have been working on my GT trying to get it ready for a track event. Unfortunatly. I still have more Gremlins to chase out of my car and was unable to make the event.

The contributions have been trickling in slowly. As of this posting I have recieved 12 envelopes. I did not open any of them but chose to wait awhile longer to see if any others will arrive.

Next week I will open them all and post the recieved total. Then the contributions will be sent to Ron.

12 envelopes??? I can't believe there are only 12 people who will support a great and unbiased forum like this. Where else can you get quality response's to your questions? Most of the people out there that read the forum could surely give up a couple of beers and a movie. I sure hope there are more in the mail Hershel!

Some of us are exploring the PayPal option. It is difficult for some people outside the US to convert small amounts of money like this into US Dollars.

The PayPal money goes straight to Ron (or maybe his wife but that will be his problem).

Hi Hershal,
I cannot get the paypal to work for me from South Africa. If you could mail me a bank account number, bank name and address and swiftcode I can do a direct transfer to support this great forum. (didn't know it was so difficult to part with money!!

Hi Guys,

I've received about 10 PayPal contributions, we certainly appreciate the support. Some are still coming in and I'll update them over time.

As for numbers, please keep in mind that we had over 30 contributions eariler in the year and we wouldn't expect those folks to give again. Therefore, I'd estimate that we are some where around 50 contributions, which isn't bad.

The forum has around 600 members right now. If these around 300 or a little less are active (logged in at least once per month). Based on these numbers we're running around 15-20% contribution rate - not too bad!

The lack of manufacturer support is the thing that suprises me, we as a group are fairly polite and unbiased. So far we've only received offers of support fom Roaring Forties and GT Supercars (John Hester's company). But, I realize that companies have their own agendas and it might be better that way, I'd hate to be pulled in different directions based on contributions.

Later this month or early October we're going to a new forum format to support more features so look out!!!!

Ron

Ron, I am surprised that you have made no mention of the very generous financial offers from the two clubs in the UK, the GTD40s car Club and the GT40 enthusiasts club, both of who's members are contributing through those clubs.

Frank,

my fault entirely, mainly due to the fact that I'm assuming Hershal is handling that side of the equation and those contributions may be in the envelopes.

Yes, both UK Clubs, the GTD Owners Club and the GT40 Enthusiasts club have both offered very substantial contributions to keeping the board alive. In fact, both of these clubs have around 40% of the active members on the board and without their members' contributions we wouldn't have much at all.

Again, as I've mentioned before, if there are folks who are not members of these clubs in the states I'd join up. I just received the first GT40 Enthusiasts magazine and it is very nice with some good artciles. Same as with the GTD Magazines (I've written about twice) - both are good publications and are really a good value.

Sorry for the omission, it was not intentional at all - just a simple mistake. I deal with so many emails that are board related it is hard for me to remember everything that is going on.

I will be sending something in soon, perhaps
through paypal. Going through some financial
issues right now in the hopes of getting
my bank account in better position to put
a 40 in my garage

I'm sorry guys, but Ron can't take all the heat for that one. I was notified by the clubs about the donations by e-mail. I chose to wait and post all the info in at one time.
The support from that UK clubs really exemplifies what a great and knowledgable group of folks they are. Without this forum we would not be able to learn as quickly about all the advances they have made in building their GT's. I remember the days before this forum. When ever I did a search on gt40S it always came up with 75% of the hits were UK sites. I can't begin to count the ideas that were incorporated into my car because of all that info that was passed along by these kind folks.
I'm sure that when the final tally is taken it will show that the contributions were generous ones from all.
