Hi, I'm tinkering with a mid-engine VW golf project in NSW, Australia. Basically the front part of an Audi A8 Quattro Auto powertrain converted to FWD only and shoehorned into the back of a VW Golf.
I'm hoping someone might have some information for me, or maybe I can help someone else here...
I'm going down the road of converting an 8HP55A quattro transmission to FWD only for a mid engine car I'm tinkering with. Did someone already make a spline to lock the torsen diff? or a complete kit, with a spline and cover plate? I hear whispers here and there but nothing concrete...
Anything?

Hi Peter, might be a dumb question but are you set on going the a8 route? Reason I'm asking is that you could probably have an easier/cheaper time swapping in toyota mr2 drive train with a k series engine and make more than enough power.

Good point, but once you’ve re powered a small car with a V8, you can’t go back.

More than valid haha in that case you could think about swapping in a 9th gen chevy impala ss (unsure if they brought that to austrailia) and rock an ls4.
