Insulating coolant cross pipes

I’ve searched through the forums and was looking for feedback from someone with an operating gt40 about insulating the cooling pipes through the center section of an RCR? I was thinking of just wrapping header wrap around them to control heat in the cabin (I also put heat and sound insulation on the interior floor) and any clanking noise from the pipes rubbing. The car will never see bad weather so I’m only concerned about condensation on the exhaust wrap rotting the pipes. What’s the general consensus? Wrap, insulate or leave them bare?

Thanks!!!

On the DAX no insulation on the pipes and some stick on heat shield 1/8 inch thick inside the car

But the bottom of the tunnel was open to the air ( 2 separate panels one each side) so there was a good air circulation past the pipes when on the move.

I painted mine with Zinc Chromate Primer, wrapped them with thin insulation and then rubber shrink wrap. AC, heater, radiator coolant and rad bleed are all hard lines. May be overkill but just trying to contain heat intrusion and condensation.

Used S/S tubes with 2 layers of header wrap and finished with heat shrink.
Live in the tropics so need every bit of help I can find. Works well and keeps the the tunnel cool.

I used all hard lines through my RCR40 tunnel and wrapped them using 'Cool It Thermo Shield Tape'. It's thin enough so there's still room for all the lines, plus a little extra for air circulation.

Do you notice any heat increase on the spline while driving the car?

Paul,
Hmmm, not sure what 'spline' you're referring to. I've insulated the whole interior of the car, but it can still get really warm in there. There's a hot radiator in front of you, some hot cooling tubes beside you, and a really hot hunk of metal right behind you. There are a lot of tips & tricks on many of this forum's build logs to help avoid some of that heat. Naturally, a functional A/C unit helps.

Rod,
I use the term 'spline' to refer to the rectangular tube that forms the console between the driver and passenger. The coolant tubes pass thru it.

I am curious if you notice a heat increase when you touch it from the passenger compartment side, trying to determine how much of the coolant heat gets transferred from the coolant into the tubes and surrounding structure.

Paul,
Even with my pipe wrap & interior insulation the spline/tunnel does feel a little warmer than the rest of the interior panels. I've never measured actual temps, but it's certainly not enough to burn a hand or leg. I would assume that if there wasn't any carpet or insulation, it could get really hot.
