Many of our more enduring members will be interested to know that both Russ Noble & his car are alive & kicking. Russ called in for a cup of coffee & a chat last week while following the Formula Ford Series around the south Island of NZ and yesterday a good friend of ours posted a photo of his GT40 in the pits at the Ruapuna track in Christchurch. Now painted bright yellow & owned/driven by Raymond Hart. I Idont know if was competing or on display only. Russ is doing well, has moved to west coast of NZ. sounds like he has got out of the race seat following the FF accident that knocked him back a peg or two, but still the same Russ when the stories start coming out.
Was that at the skope classic? I will be down for next weekend to pit crew for some mates cars running in the historic sports & gt/saloon classes Feb 7/8/9 at Levels

South Canterbury Hydraulics Southern Classic

then the following weekend 14/15/16 at Teretonga for

George Begg Classic Speedfest 2020
It`s great to see that car back on the track, I presume it was the one in which Russell had his `big off`.
Jac, thanks for posting this. I always enjoyed Russ's experience on the track. Good to see the car is back and running
I went to the Teretonga event yesterday, This car cleared out and ran away from allcomers-( very mixed bag of sports cars )- did not get to meet the new owner ( my fault-wrong place at right time etc) Also bumped into Brian for a quick catchup, his car is performing well & he is obviously enjoying it.

Further to Jac's post above...

Yes, the yellow 40 was very quick. Nice to catch up with a number of familiar faces.

I did get to meet the owner had a good chat to him and it was good to meet Brian and sit in his beautiful GT40.

Russ old car is good hands with the owner enjoying the car very much, at first it was a handful and after he repaired it following Russ crash he too crashed it following a hill climb event. He has moulds and repaired the car again..another frontal. He is enjoying the car and live racing it on the tracks Christchurch based and from the sounds of it a bit of petrol head aka gearhead love all cars.

Sorry I did not catch up with you Jac Mac I was down from Auckland supporting the Historic Muscle Car/Saloon grid (well pit crewing for a mate lime green Datsun 240z running a new group within that grid Historic Sport and GT)

I have to admit after supporting (pit crewing and racing) in many different classes over the past 30 years I have not met such a great family as the Historic Muscle Car grid. They are just a great bunch of people (blokes, wife, kids, family;) )
Just some of the many pics I took. The #63 GT40 was a very bespoke build by a local actually runs a Jerico gearbox that goes via a small drive shaft to a custom drop gear transfer case back towards the Jerico into a diff. Odd but it works. It also run an alloy monocoque. The yellow car....aka Russ old car...well most either know the build or can look it up here.
