That's my GT40 chassis Mike, I tried without luck sourcing a Ferrari v12 engine in the late 90's as a P4 was my first choice for a build but Yoda saved me from the dark side, love to see a build log Jimmy.

Thank you Randy.
The flange / tab holes are slotted for slip and expansion and the megaphones are not fixed on the gearbox shoe but fastened with stiff springs. So the back end is slightly flexible.
We also considered that the Silentblock anti-vibration dampers on the engine and the transaxle introduce movement through to the exhaust so the joints need to flex.
Our theory anyway.

I used a small smooth edged butter knife.

Had some fun on the baby machine today boring some Dzus fasteners for wings and also tried turning a couple of original pattern Smiths gauge dial pointer bosses including the counterweights.
With some camera black on, they will look fine.
