Looking for help on my 1966 / GTD GT40 Replica

Mine and the other ones I have seen are at position 1. My GTD also has the VIN stamped into the bar at the very back of the chassis. The VIN at the front is often covered by the alloy panelling.
Cheers

I removed some panels today to see if I could find a chassis number. Infortunately no luck, even after scraping off the paint. Also not on the passenger side.

I will also check the very back of the chassis. What position should I check?

Reach out to Malcolm on here.
He has information on all/most the GTD’s built.
If you have any known old number plate numbers that would certainly be a huge help in nailing it down

Thanks Ian,

I was hoping to find the chassis number at the usual location to be able to track down the build year and date. However, because my chassis appears to be a KVA type A, which was later upgraded with GTD subframes, there might not be any. Unless GTD did the mod and hammered in a chassis number at a different location. It could also well be that the car builder, in my case Mohr Automobile in Germany, did the upgrade themselves. They hammered in the VIN.
I will reach out to Malcolm for help.

Thanks, Bart

hi Bart
If originally a kva chassis then it falls as originally manufactured by kva and not gtd. It would have therefore a kva chassis number. Having subsequently been fitted with effectively aftermarket revised subframes from gtd would not make it a gtd chassis and so not have a gtd chassis number. The records do not show details of kva chassis later converted with gtd sub frames. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear.

Hi Malcolm,

Thank you for your swift reply. This makes total sense. In the article that Paul Hendrickx sent I read GTD preferred to do the upgrade themselves. Apparently they did not keep records of this.
I will continue my search

Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Regards, Bart

Hello Bart: Surely you found these 2 references already ?:
Maybe you can find someone from these shops who can help you trace back your car...

Hi Walter,

I found the first, but not the second. Thank you for that!
I will definitely follow up.

{edit: did not find the owner of the manufacturing company (went out of business and left the country), but I did manage to get in contact with the company that took over}

Thanks again.
