LS gearbox choices

At this point I am trying to decide between an SDR, Ricardo, and maybe this ZFQ. The g50 box is always an option, but with all the added expenses, it seems to work out to about the same as the others. Still waiting for the SDR, and will wait until it's release to decide, but thanks for the contact info. I'm sure it will come in handy.

If it is any help, we are using the latest Graziano GT-ME1 6-speed transaxle on the new Saker GT470 Clubsport. Graziano UK have also had the bellhousing work done by C2P Automotive to fit the LS3/LS7, Ford Duratec and Northstar 4.4L LC3 engines, plus a deal for AP racing clutches.

The Graziano GT-ME1 transaxle has a torque rating of 750 Nm (560lb ft) or more and is used by Aston Martin with similar applications used by Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. The Saker GT470 will also use a sequential shifter which is presently under development with our engineers over in NZ.

If anyone would like some more info we would be more than happy to assist but it might be worth contacting Mike Finnigan directly at Graziano UK, Tel: <skype:span onmouseup="javascript:skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,1,'0',true,16,'',0);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" class="skype_tb_injection" onmousedown="javascript:skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,2,'0',true,16,'',0);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" id="softomate_highlight_0" onmouseover="javascript:skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,1,'0',true,16,'',0);" title="Call this phone number in United Kingdom with Skype: +441480403453" onclick="javascript:skype_tb_doRunCMD('call','0',null,0);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" onmouseout="javascript:skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,0,'0',true,16,'',0);" skypeid="0" skypeaction="call" durex="500" context="+44-1480-403453" iamrtl="0"><skype:span onmouseup="javascript:doSkypeFlag(this,'0',1,1,16,0);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" class="skype_tb_imgA" onmousedown="javascript:doSkypeFlag(this,'0',2,1,16,0);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" id="skype_tb_droppart_0" onmouseover="javascript:doSkypeFlag(this,'0',1,1,16,0);" title="Skype actions" style="background-image: url(file://C:/DOCUME~1/ADMINI~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache/e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506/static/inactive_a.compat.flex.w16.gif);" onclick="javascript:skype_tb_SwitchDrop(this,'0','sms=0');return skype_tb_stopEvents();" onmouseout="javascript:doSkypeFlag(this,'0',0,1,16,0);" skypeid="0" skypeaction="drop" skypesms="0"><skype:span class="skype_tb_imgFlag" id="skype_tb_img_f0" style="background-image: url(file://C:/DOCUME~1/ADMINI~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache/e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506/static/famfamfam/GB.gif);"></skype:span></skype:span><skype:span class="skype_tb_imgS" id="skype_tb_img_s0" style="background-image: url(file://C:/DOCUME~1/ADMINI~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache/e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506/static/inactive_s.compat.gif);"></skype:span><skype:span class="skype_tb_injectionIn" id="skype_tb_text0" style="background-image: url(file://C:/DOCUME~1/ADMINI~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache/e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506/static/inactive_m.compat.gif);"><skype:span class="skype_tb_innerText" id="skype_tb_innerText0"> +44-1480-403453 </skype:span></skype:span><skype:span class="skype_tb_imgR" id="skype_tb_img_r0" style="background-image: url(file://C:/DOCUME~1/ADMINI~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache/e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506/static/inactive_r.compat.gif);"></skype:span></skype:span>

I have noticed that the question of good affordable transaxles keeps popping up, so I hope this info comes in useful. All the best.

How much are those gearboxes and what are the rations?

I think the price for one-off orders for the Graziano gearbox should work out at around $US12,000 excluding the LS bellhousing and AP racing clutch package.

Anyway, I am sure Mike Finnigan will post some more info and prices soon since Dom appears to have already contacted him. We have a full spec sheet for the Graziano GT-ME1 at Saker, let me know if you would like us to email you a copy.

hi craig,

no doubt you will have made your choice by now,

but if it helps I am running a standard G50 6 speed GT2 gearbox mated to a race spec LS7 695HP & 630lb of torque Kinsler stack. Traction control via the right foot. not practicle on the road too fast is a understatement. On the track awsome. once the tyres are hot traction is masive in my 950kg car tend to just use 4,5,&,6th gears torque curve goes 475lb @3000rpm 630lb @ 4600rpm keeps around 600lb at 6400rpm Max Hp @ 6500rpm soft cut of @ 6800 rpm full cut off 7000rpm

Hope this helps

Hi Guys

The next batch of ZFQ's is due at the end of February The ZFQ is about 50lbs lighter than the Ricardo and is 4" shorter than the Graziano, The ZFQ fits the Ford or LS3 or LS7, and with this exchange rate is cheaper to purchase than a ZF.
The ZFQ aslo just won its class at the Kyalami 9 hour and East London, chosen as the transaxle of choice for their race cars by Hi-Tech Automotive the manufacturers of the Superformance GT40.
When used with the ZFQ bellhousing standard Ford 10.5" clutch 157 tooth ring gear and Ford starter makes installation very simple, we even use an off the shelf pilot bearing.
We are also intoducing a dog engagement version.

regards

Chris.
See, the ZFQ at the Autosport Show, on Quaifes stand and also on the stand with the F1-67 owned by Ian Gray.

Hi Craig

Are you looking at fitting a LS1 or LS3? Ls1 use the mechanical throttle, from LS2 on they switched to electronic ,so if your considering LS2 on you will need to use the LS1 computor and change the reluctor gear to suit. You can find all this stuff on Ebay.

Cheers Keron

Word of note on the FBW LSx throttle bodies, the ECU/Pedal assembly/TAC should all be compatible. A mix & match won't work. I'm using same from 2001 Camaro with my modified Corvette LS-1, aftermarket ECU re-program, harness, etc.

Jack..
