Last monday ,tuesday, wednesday we where racing in Rijeka. He is racing inthe same class as me. He has never ridden a motorcycle before, but seeing his talent when we where cart racing together, i was pretty confident that he will do good.
I showed hin around the track and teached him what i know the first day. Despite the rainy weather he did pretty ok. The bike goes like stink and he was very happy.
The next day i left him for himself and he managed to put himself in the 4th row on the starting grid on place 16 ( out of 32) . THis was also his finishing places in two 10 lap races.
Atlhough i assumed he will be fine i was suprised that he did so well. Never having a critical situation and managing to go faster with every set he drove.
I finished second in the first race and couldn´t start in the second race due to engine issues.

OVer all a very successfull racing event with my son.

Tom,
How incredibly fantastic to share such a hobby and, obviously, a passion with your son. I have three daughters and all they talk about is shopping. aaaggghhh

David,

Same to me. None of my family members, all women, has any interest in my toys, i.e. cars and bikes. No choice.

Thanks

You guys married the wrong women :) My girl rides motorcycles, used to race a 125GP bike and drives planes around the sky for fun. My siblings are women, but at least they enjoyed motorcycles and one of my nieces even rode. So even though I had no brothers at least I had family support. In a 20 year 'career' never did get Mom to attend on of my races tho.... :(

Had to adopt guys who shared my interest in bikes, of course they turned into life long friends. Dan and Doug will always be like brothers to me.

Tom - It's great to be able to share you passions with your son, wish my dad had shared mine a little more. Good for you guys.

You guys did a great job on the bike, but your son's natural talent must make you really proud!!!

Tom, did you mean he had never ridden a bike in competition before, or he had never ridden before? If the latter Valentino and Casey better watch out.
Whatever the answer the kids got talent please give him my best regards for the future.

David, they are all sisters they just live in different houses.

Pete

besides some warm up drives up and down the straigt in front of my house, 2 very slow laps on a track behind me, and may be 30 km on his 50 cc ( which we had finsihed one week before the racebike) he has had no motorbike experiences at all.

What me convinced that he could do it, was the experience we had on the cart track. This is a track close to us where they also have German championship runs. A racerfriend of mine ( sven) , his son , Michael and me went driving there with rental carts. In the end i was fastest ( very close to the rental lap record), but michael was secondfastest, even beat Sven ( who is a very fast motorcycle driver). The big difference was , he never had a spin. He had a good line and was comimg up to speed from bottom up, whereas i went as fast as i could until i got several spins and knew the limit ( top down approach).
You know, line is no issue anymore for this xbox kids. THey just have to manage to drive along it in real live.
