Well I am a good enough driver that I only push in the clutch for what I need but the guy in the shop decided to go to the floor with it. I am putting in a stop today. ..

You must have really been over-extending and binding the clutch ... there's no way you could possibly know the right point to stop pushing at all times ..... I drove my cobra once without a clutch stop and made it about 0.1miles before i realized it's impossible to know the exact clutch travel at all times :O

you get the feel when you extend it and I have the car set so I when I push the clutch in it extends my leg just right when it is where it needs to be. I have put 2600 miles on the car without a clutch stop, but we are working on one now started the design yesterday, ran out of time will get on it after I sheetrock my kitchen and get the cabinets in. My wife is not happy with me still spending my time on the car instead of the house. But isn't that the experience of owning a SL-C
