New Ken block video

Good car control Simon. He has a "proper" test now as he joins the WRC for 2010 and 2011. He is up against some stiff competition...

Cheers pal,

Graham.

I was going to ask if he did that on a single set of tires, then I saw the sparks flying at 6:00.

It looks like they had a lot of fun shooting that.

I LIKE that! I wish I had one of those cars. The mechanics who build stuff like that have to be top notch and the drivers are the best in the world in my opinion. I wish they showed WRC on tv as much as they do Nascar, which doesn't ring my bell.

I think it was several shoots put together, at first he hits the wall and leaves 2 meters of tire mark on the wall, you know that had to do something to the car but later on in the video theres not a mark on the right side and its raining in one shoot.

Is the auto dome still open for racing or just this filming? Interesting track, I would like to know more history of it.

I'm actually not sure on this.

Yes he does some faitly neat spins etc but he bumps the car twice in a 6 minute film (how many other times did they do retakes and scrub the bumps? notice the marks already on the tarmac from earlier tries?)

Also is his feel for the machinery good? How many times do you hear it bounce off the rev limiter?

Is the idea to get around the course in the fastest time or just a "show"?

I did a quick search and he does not appear to have masses of race results to prove his pedigree

But at the same time I could not do what he did - not without a hell of a lot of practice

Ian,

While I believe he is competitive, Ken is much more well known for his YouTube videos. The first of this series was crazy, generated a lot of response. Before that he shot videos jumping cars on ski slopes, launching them long distances, and all other kinds of automotive antics... way fun.

It looks shot in multiple takes but I could not even do one trick even with a ton of practice. I would take it for what it is, cheap entertainment.
