Pathfinder GT40R at Thunderhill Raceway

Hi guys,

I arrived at Thunderhill Raceway Park (north of Sacramento, CA) at about 4:15 on Saturday afternoon, making a delivery there. Hooked On Driving had a track day winding up, and I got there just in time to see a stunning SPF GT40R pulling out.

The owner was already in his truck and clearly ready to leave, and not in a talkative mood at all. He said he had owned it only for a few months, and he absolutely loved it. He's not on the forum. I asked for the serial number and he couldn't remember it exactly, only that it ended in '99', which would make it 2199 or 2299, I presume?

I was very annoyed that I arrived too late to see him run....:veryangry:

Mike- Pete Hess here. I own the car. Sorry I was in such a hurry. Was running late to get back to the East Bay. Anyway, I'll be running the car again this Friday April 19 at Thunderhill. Another HOD day. Here is the Hooked On Driving link if anyone is interested. Great format and low cost to get lots of track time with anything you want to drive. Dave Ray runs the Norcal branch. It is a nationwide operation. www.hookedondriving.com. FYI the car is a Pathfinder GT40R- all engine/race prep and drivetrain done by Holman & Moody. Authentic 302 engine.

Pete--welcome aboard! Thanks for the heads-up about the 19th; Lori is running her Mustang at the extra HOD day on the 18th but we can't be there on the 19th.

But we will see you at future HOD events, for sure! Can't wait to see that thing running!

Looking at his tie down on the trailer, I would recommend that he cross the tie-down straps to prevent the car from "walking" sideways when the trailer hits bumps. Years of hauling GTs has taught me this....you don't want to scuff the sills on the trailer fenders.

Hey Pete, I'm bringing my GT40 out this year to drive to Monterey, we have a house in Ukiah. Maybe we can organize a meeting place for all of us to shoot the bull? Congrats on your car, can't wait to hear details.

Pete,

I will be in Davis later this week and plan on taking the short trip up Friday morning. Olthoff is going to do mine and I would like to see how Moody set your car up. As you know, the wait is long so looking at yours may fill my appetite for a bit.
