The D Type was build like an aluminum airplane, held together with rivets. If one, hypothetically speaking of course, were to build a replica those rivets would add a nice touch of realism.
While at EAA, Oshkosh, picked up a couple of bags of rivets. One never knows when they might come in handy.
I'll never buck another rivet. Built 2 RV3's from plans years ago.
Sold them both in Arizona after playing with them for a couple of years.
I started the first build and a friend was excited so "we" began the second.
He backed out. Sorry for the drift.
Would look great on the D-type though.
Hey Jack: No bucking rivets on an RCR D Type. Pre drill holes in the fiberglass, pre paint the rivets, then a dab of epoxy to hold them in the painted body. Purely cosmetic.
My next project may be a plane: but the plans I am looking at are fabric covered so no skin to be riveted.
