RCR D type thread

The D Type was build like an aluminum airplane, held together with rivets. If one, hypothetically speaking of course, were to build a replica those rivets would add a nice touch of realism.

While at EAA, Oshkosh, picked up a couple of bags of rivets. One never knows when they might come in handy.

I'll never buck another rivet. Built 2 RV3's from plans years ago.
Sold them both in Arizona after playing with them for a couple of years.
I started the first build and a friend was excited so "we" began the second.
He backed out. Sorry for the drift.
Would look great on the D-type though.

Hey Jack: No bucking rivets on an RCR D Type. Pre drill holes in the fiberglass, pre paint the rivets, then a dab of epoxy to hold them in the painted body. Purely cosmetic.

My next project may be a plane: but the plans I am looking at are fabric covered so no skin to be riveted.

Darn. Missed my chance.

Note separate wind screens on passenger and driver sides. Had not seen that before. Interesting arrangement.

Any pics of the chassis from the firewall forward? Also, any chance it could be done with E Type cast front wishbones?

No E type cast front wishbones...we are using the much more common and less expensive XJ6 front suspension
