Paid Fran a visit this past weekend. Saw the D Type, coming along nicely.

We forget how different tires were in the fifties until you see a set of bias ply for the D Type.

Work was being done on an interesting one - off track car.

Several SLC underway along with a couple of P4s, GT40s and 917. Busy place!

Thanks Fran for the time and tour.

Business took me north, so a little detour to RCR seemed in order.

Since our last visit there have been some significant refinements in the Jag monocoque chassis. The passenger foot well (right side) has been shortened providing better clearance for the exhaust. The tops of both the passenger and driver foot well have been dropped and 45 degree returns added, providing more space for the three side draft Webers and giving a 'cleaner' look. Finally the lower rockers area has been revised with a return to match the angle of the lower body.

Very nice work. Good to see the progress.

Wow! I'd love to have that transporter! It features one of the most amazing design diesel engines ever, the 3 cylinder, 2-stroke, six opposed pistons TS3. These engines used to power the London to Scotland buses up the M1 motorway at crazy speeds.

If one were to build a D Type reproduction, one could consider gauges from Nossinger. Smith's gauges re faced to look strikingly similar to the originals.

What wheels are those pictured and what are the sizing specs? Love those wheels!

Autoart makes a beautiful 1/18 scale model of the D Type that won Lemans in 1955. Excellent detail and good quality fit and finish. We found one on E Bay for $300 including shipping. If one were contemplating building a D Type, this would be a useful resource.

The beauty of the D Type really stands out when seen in three dimensions.
