RCR/Superlite Factory Visit

I visited the factory this week. There was a lot to look at and I thought I’d share a few pictures. In any event, Fran was growing a mustache and wearing a Hawaiian shirt and shorts that were unfashionably too short. I couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on until I went into the back and saw his new toy (see first picture)… apparently he’s been watching a lot of 80’s reruns ;-)

Fran’s guys did a great job getting this BMW engine to fit in a SLC… it’s going to be fun to service. Two GTR’s were getting ready to go to Europe. Hard decision between one of those and a SLC. It’s really cool how Fran consolidated multiple panels into a single panel with simulated panel lines – if they get out of alignment that means you hit something! I don’t like the XJ13 nearly as much as D-Type, but hard to not love that v12. There was also a twin turbo SLC. The MOAB is impressive in person – too bad I live in an urban area.

Fran’s always talking about the amount of stuff that’s built in Detroit. Well I was interested in a Kinsler ITB and guess what, they’re right down the road. We went for a visit. Gotta love that carbon fiber.

The new factory looks interesting, not to mention it's contents. Hey Fran, how about an online tour for those of us who haven't yet been able to come for a personal tour? You could take your camera on your normal rounds and show us rookies around. I'm sure you must be pretty proud of the place..... so show it off a little bit.

Thanks for posting the pictures!

I'd like to know a little more about this car - which I have apparently missed in other conversations..

It looks a lot like Jim C.'s LMP racer

Cheers!

I have been thinking of moving to Arizona just to be able to have the chance to drive the Moab on the streets! I vote multiple times to see the Moab in action taking some sweet jumps! Lol.

Very nice turbos on the SLC. Hopefully the exhaust is not done yet, because I wanted to be the first (i have seen atleast) to run the exhaust up through the rear decklid!
Looks like you guys also had to come to that realization for the air cleaner location. I have put lots of brain power into other locations, but just not enough room to go anywhere else with turbos mounted on sides like that.

I'll vote for some action videos of the Moab as well. Silver Lake is only a weekend trip away from RCR headquarters. Theres thousands of great trails around Vegas alone. It's one of the cars Im considering in the next two years.

Ray,

I just loaded some more GTR pictures in the SLC wiki . Look in the lower right corner and you should see a link. I didn't have time to shrink the files so they're ~7mb each and might take a little while to load.

Based on the initial post in this thread, you clearly omitted what would have been the most amusing picture: Fran.

The MOAB looks mean in that picture. The GT-Rs look awesome! Great pics!

Agreed, the MOAB looks much meaner here than in the conceptual renderings seen on the website. Fran, get off the worm and take that thing out and jump over some stuff! *grin*

I agree, the MOAB would be a lot of fun to drive... anywhere literally.
It looks like the SLC either has a sequential turbo setup or perhaps they join at a single intercooler on the right side. Interesting. The Jag has one incredible looking exhaust system, what a work of art!
