Rear Brakes Advice Please.......

Hi

I'm trying to get my car (Tornado) ready for Classic Le Mans, and I need to do something with my rear brakes (I've just ordered the 4 pot Wilwood system from Tornado for the front).

I've got Granada Mk3 rear callipers and solid disks. The callipers need an overhall, so I thought it may be best to upgrade.

Does anybody know what's involved in changing over to the larger Granada rear vented disks and corresponding Granada callipers? Is this simply a bolt off / bolt on option, or is there a load of machining involved?

I see that Rally designs are selling vented rear disks for £15.00 plus VAT per set, and I have found the larger callipers for about £65.00 per side on ebay, but is it really that easy?

Any help would be gratefully received!!!

Cheers

Darren

Scorpio (mk3 Granada) std rear brake disc is solid, and dia is 252 mm.
If You have these, You can upgrade them easily to 272 mm / solid or ventilated.
Solid founds from Sierra RS Cosworth, but You need to drill new holes; cossie is 4x108 mm. You need rear bearing carriers too, the ones with 10 mm longer lugs.
Calipers are same in solid 252 and 272 mm versions (read: same in all Sierra/Scorpios with solid discs). So in this case Your originals will work.

With ventilated disc you must use caliper from ventilated disc assembly.
Only diffirence between ventilated and non-ventilated caliper is body cast; it`s wider. Piston and pads are same.
Disc founds from Cosworth Scorpio and big engined STW Scorpio.

In short, You need bearing carriers with longer lugs too.
