I just picked up a UN1-04 the other day to add to my ever mounting collection of UN1 trannys. Its a V6 unit with a 0.76 for 5th gear and a 3.89 final drive. Its also got a 4-spider diff unit, so will take a bit more abuse.
To find out what the other unit is, have a look on the back of the crownwheel. The gearbox type is engraved on every Renault box on the back of there. It actually looks like a Model 369/5 from the photos.

Thanks for then info, dose that mean i have to remove the crown wheel?

And sadly i dont have a the boss 302, that manifold was just kickin round work so i gave it a good home in my garage!

No you dont have to remove the crownwheel. If you unbolt the bellhousing from the front of the box, it will expose the crownwheel, simply turn the crown around and look on the back towards the top for the engraving. As I think it looks like a 369/5 model, you will see it engraved on the outside edge of the crownwheel, whereas un1 models had it engraved on the actual back crownwheel, opposite the teeth side.

Hi, more help needed, i have come across a brand new UN1, with code un1 019, any idea on this 1?

Dont know that id number. Have a look on the right hand side of the box, just by the output shaft, and you will see a manufacture date. You could compare that to Renault models made around that year.
Not a Lotus box as it has a Renault V6 bellhousing on it.

If its from an alpine, then do this simple check. Turn the input shaft clockwise, the direction of the motor. The output shafts should turn clockwise as well in the forward gears.
If the output shafts turn anticlockwise, then its not from an Alpine.

But the good thing is, the crownwheel can be flipped over to change the drive direction.
