Rod Ends - Heim Joints

Jimmy
I know all the guys around these parts use NMB, they are pricey (around $60 ea. for a 1/2" rod end) but super strong. I know most of the Indy and Champ cars teams use these. The only ones I have seen that compare are the Military spec pieces that run about $110. for a 5/8 rod end but radial load spec on those is about 22,000 lbs.
Hope some of this helps

Can anyone define 'best' ?? (in a suspension application)

IE what makes one make of rose joint 'better' than another, is it a higher load spec?? greater misalignment angle?? ptfe linings?? wear rates??

any info would be greatly appreciated!

I just bought some NMB joints. £45 each plus delivery. Cheaper than Merlin for their silverline range. 3 peice and ptfe lined. Came recommended to me as very good. Am most pleased with them. 1/2 by 1/2 inch unf.

National rod ends are the budget ones about half the cost of NMB.

There is a grade above NMB but I didn't look into that too closely as these are the style used by WRC teams and the like. I decided I have ended my off road excursions so didn't need them that bomb proof!

For a GT40 replica suspension application the NMB or equivalent should be plenty sufficient.

Bigger alignment angles = more cost.

I used the internet to find a supplier and was most happy with what I got.

Guys,
Currently, I agree with Frank but just wanted to test the water. These are SKFs.
NHBB were my favourite but personally I am hesitant on the non-original SS cores.
The Rose joints are still available in black.
However, original DREM specifications are also available with Cadmium plating and I think I am on the trail of these but they are extremely expensive.
