SLC 36 Cam's Build

Ehh, I wired it for satellite and had sirius ready to connect. Then i got it running and realized i didnt want alot of insulation, amps and more weight. Id rather hear the engine note, sounds different then your average pushrod LS. The more race it looked, the more I liked it. Plus the more people passed up my friends lambo to look at the SLC. LOL.

I was messing around with my wiring and lost my tach signal in the process. Dooh!

Does anyone remember where this cavity “C” connector is found, attached? Where do you grab Ignition signal from? It's been 9 years since I wired this thing.

The GMPP power distribution box (that big black box with fuses and relays in it) has a pigtail coming out of it with a lot of unused wires. That pigtail has the necessary wires.

Pin C - white wire - is engine speed
Pin L - pink write - is ignition

add a resistor (0.5 watt, 1k ohm) to pin L as per diagram, then join the 2 lines together and send the wire to the digidash tach out. Don't forget to program the digidash to use 2 pulse per rev
 
Well, I got 5K out of the shock ball joints. One rear, much unexpectedly shot. I just happened to have ordered the urethane replacement to the ball joint last week in order to help quiet the car down over sharp edged bumps. No Joy. They are made for 90 degree fitment, the shocks are too far off that to allow them work, front or rear.

Bummer.

Shock - I noticed my QA1’s were a bit tweaked after 16k with 10 or so track days. Driver’s side was soft as butter, passenger pretty stiff. This probably came from me running my qa’s at high compression and rebound. Like 8’s to 10’s. QA recommend a group in CA called Naake who rebuilds 20 different brands. Naake said QA1’s are good shock but recommended them run at a compression about 2 or even 1 and rebound about 3 or 4. Otherwise, they are bricks and you’ll damage them. They rebuilt them for $90/shock and came back looking like new.

Also, I’ve found the black Teflon qa1 rod ends that come standard will wear out fast, like 3-5k miles. You'll be able to feel a slight amount of slop if you jack an Sl-c corner up and force the wheel side to side/top to bottom.
