SLC Mini-meet

This weekend Rob Mesa, Allan Z and I arrived at Roberto's shop (Stage7) to "help" him work on his car and binge on everything SLC. The general idea was to help get the last few things done on the plumbing, wiring and engine details to start the car. And have a good time, talking about the cars, where we were in our respective builds, and how we each were going to have the fastest, coolest, etc SLC of them all.

Luckily, the real work was being done by Roberto and actual mechanics at the shop, so our Mad Builder Skilz weren't really called into play except for a few small tasks. And of course, a lot of discussion about the SLC, and how we were working the details of our respective builds.

We didn't actually get the car ready to fire, but we did take a few pics of the car and the really cool Jenvey ITBs on it. This is going to be a stunning car, with more power than the 01 race car- and driven on the street.

Here is a picture of the Jenvey TBs with the horns being assembled.

All up, a great day, and lots of fun!

Thanks for the write up Will. It was a great time meeting everyone and talking cars. Thanks for making the trek from Va.

We still made a lot of headway on Saturday. Just ran out of time for the first start up.

Don't forget guys......The next meeting is at my place around the end of April. Can't wait to see all of you here bright and early.

With all that brain power in one place - I'm pretty sure we came up with the cure for cancer. But since that was not our primary objective, I was not taking notes. Now I can't remember the cure...

In other news - it was great to sit and share all the little details and the solutions for such. It really was cool to be able to sit and talk hour on hour about the smallest of details and to appreciate the skills of each. It was good for me to see the LS engine sitting in a chassis and take in all the clearances and other positioning detail on the accessories (my engine as no front dress on it at all). In the end I could not help but feel bonded with these guys even though I had only ever met Will in person before. Fran even checked in with us to pass around a little 'grief' :) For one brief day we were the gravitational center of the SLC universe.

Even though I would have really appreciated a drive in an SLC, in the end we were all glad Allan didn't bring his SLC down as he was planning to do. The wind was REALLY howling on Saturday (taking down at least one tree within eyeshot) and we would have all been very concerned about his trip back if he had done so.

Someday I'll get a drive in an SLC....I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to wait until it was mine!

Oh Well, Cheers

Get cracking and your drive can be in your own car sooner rather than later...
I am planning on adding a passenger seat to the 01 car for certain times during the year to give the race car experience to a few lucky people...

I could definitely feel the pull from Texas! It sounds like quite the summit meeting....

It was a great day to hang out with fellow SLC builders. I think that we are so used to working alone on these cars that it shocking how many ideas we could come up with at one time. Maybe we should form a build team that travels around the world finishing everyone's car.

I would not have been happy on the 3.5 hour drive back. The wind was gusting to 60mph, it snowed, it iced, it rained and then there were all the crazy drivers going through NYC.

As for drives, my garage is open all the time for those who'd like to stop by for a drive. Any excuse I can get to take it for a spin! Yesterday I needed dog food so that seemed like a good reason to take the SLC out.
