SouthernGT No6

Nick,
Your eye will be drawn to any small imperfection as you only have a great expanse of black right now. Once you start filling the space with goodies, you won't see them anymore, unless you really look for them. Full steam ahead. Looks great.

Nick,

Engine looks great. Having owned a ton of 911's over the last ten years i can tell you that the gearbox should NEVER let you down an is as tough as old boots. A wise choice and thanks for your comments regarding the cost of the Southern GT versus others.

Graham

I spent hours polishing my sump to a very satisfactory sheen and then left it in the shed for a while. When I next look at it had gone from shiny to dull as per the picture.

Oh dear what a shame never mind, at least that is the general gist of what I said. After a bit of searching on the net, I thought about repeating the process and then trying zoop to seal it but in the end bit the bullet and got it camcoated.

Hi Nick,
The fit looks good now. A bit of final fiddling in the paint prep should see it spot on. A big step forward. Looking good. Back to work in the shed now......I look forward to being terrified on the first drive!
Cheers
Mike

Southern GT do a very neat solution for fitting the door handles. My door handles were not supplied by Southern and so I had to modify them slightly to fit. A while ago I bought a metal bender which I knew would come in useful one day, didn’t think it would be 30 years before I first used it though!!!

Nick, where can I buy that gear shift knob shown a few posts back? Thanks and the car looks great. Continued good luck with the build.

In order to get the dash in past the roll cage I had to cut the corner off, I wanted to make it possible to take the dash out again if required. With apologies to the real engineers, I thought the way to do it would to build a plinth that I could attach the cut off corner to, like most things I do it dosen't look to bad from a distance.

Many thanks to Flat Chat

I had been looking for a solution to how to swap the drain plug and breather on my inverted G50 gearbox for some time. Luckily Flatchat came to the rescue, and even posted them before payment!!! Before and after photos below

Re: Nick's (I'll get there one day) Build Log

Have you checked to see if all that 'Bling' is going to fit down in that cavity where it will be seldom seen before you make a crank pulley to fit the bling- Might find yourself redesigning the bling to suit a shorter more compact crank pulley!:)

Unfortunately, the therapy proved short lived as JacMac was partially right. the pulley was ok but after a quick call to Mick at Southern GT he confirmed the top of the bling protruded too far into the cabin.

Great thing about Southern GT is there is no such thing as a problem just solutions watch this space.

Nick,

I like the philosophy of "there are no problems, only opportunities"... unless it applies to me that is :)

Keep on going pal... like me, you're getting there, one step at a time.

All the best,

Graham.
