Also finished up the new hold down for the evaporator cover that incorporates a mount for the Tilton reservoir to replace the original brake and clutch fluid reservoirs. View attachment 117781View attachment 117782View attachment 117783
Man, would I love to do this to P2389. It's a pain to remove the nose to check fluid levels and satisfy open track tech inspectors.
Any chance I could talk you into building one of these conversions for my car?

Absolutely Doug where are you located?

Today was a big day finally got my transaxle in so I can start laying out the exhaust. I ended up having to do some clearancing on the lower crossmember to clear the bottom bolt between the transaxle and bell housing, but it all fits now.

Eric,

Small world-we met at MSR a couple of weeks back. My wife and I had the old Silver Cobra 427 there. Looks like your car is coming along nicely...super impressed with the updates.

John, sorry I have been away From the forum for a while yes I really enjoyed getting to meet you and getting to see your cobra. What a beautiful car!

Sorry everyone, I have gotten pretty busy with things at the shop and haven’t posted for a while. I finally got my headers finished! Hats off to everyone that has done this themselves! Not sure I could have pulled it off without the IC engine works mock up blocks and the help of Vince at Burns stainless.

I also made a set of hard lines for the cooling system. I am sure a lot of you have battled trying to get the engine in and out of these cars with the center pin for the clam shell Trying to occupy the same place the water pump pulley is trying to be so I made the pin mount removable.

If you had to guess, what do you have invested in materials from the head to collector with your headers? I was originally going to do my own in stainless, but comparing that to just buying a set.

We have roughly 3k into materials to do those headers. Most of the tubing and collectors came from Burns and it is really unrivaled quality

Is there some reason why you did not use the SPF exhaust that comes with the car? Curious as I was told it quite high quality? thanks
Yes Lee, the spf headers are not bad except they come with dual pattern flanges where they connect to the head to accommodate the 80’s 5.0l heads because of this it blocks a significant area of the exhaust port when you are running larger port AFR etc heads and the primary tubes are on the small side for a stroked 302. I also wanted to keep it as far away from the underside of the clam shell as possible to try to avoid bubbling paint.
