Steering Wheel Size

Hi All,

I'm in the midst of deciding what diameter of Moto Lita steerering wheel to fit, with a Q/R.

I've mocked up a 15" wheel...................but it looks ginormous.

I know I could go for a 14", but I understand that the 15" is what was used originally.

Is anybody using a 15" wheel, and how does it feel/look?

Looking forward to lots of ideas!

Cheers,

Geoff.

had same dillemna when I ordered my original Moto Lita steering wheel.
I decided to go for the 14" as 15" is really big even tough original, especially when you are tall (and I am not...).

Geoff,
If you ask Moto-Lita for a GT40 wheel, they will supply the 14".
I have one and can get in and out of the car (just) without removing it.

I tried 13,14,&15 both flat and dished.

15" made for lighter steering but restricted access, 13" made the steering somewhat heavy at low speeds. 14" was the best option but flat not dished to gain the extra 1" reach.

If you are fitting a quick release system it's ever so easy to also gunbarrel the steering shaft and fit a Lemo plug and sochet. These Lemos can be used for a multitde of purposes but one that really stands out is a total electrics kill switch
- once you've taken the steering wheel off nothing electical can work.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

David - This sounds interesting - I've never come across Lemo plugs and sockets before. Can one half be secured inside the column with the steering wheel end acting as a bayonet fit straight into the column, or would the connector have to have a twist and turn locking system?

I've looked on the Lemo website, but there are a bewildering range of products.

Cheers,

Geoff.
