I'd like to thank several GT40 Forum members who I met (finally face to face) this week at Monterey/PB...J6 Jim, Chris and Roy, for taking the trouble to look me up and share their fun and information with me. It added much to what was a great time for us. We liked the Pagrovia Cafe in Pacific Grove- great Russian-Italian food. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Our group placed second in class (Giugiaro/ItalDesign) with the Merritt's Bizzarrini 5300 Strada, which drew a great deal of favorable attention and ran faultlessly on the tour (and on the track when Kendall finally got to stick his foot in it and hang it out a bit). They may also show the car at Amelia Island, in which case I'll go along and perhaps see some of you there as well.
Again, thanks to all for a great time and their outstanding hospitality and friendliness.
Best regards,
Jim Rosenthal

Hi Jim,
It was good to meet you,
Chris and I had a ball.
I don't think I've seen so many original cars in one place!
I counted 6 MK4's , 2 Roadsters, 3 Mk2's, 1 MK3, 10 MK1's and 1012 and 1109 at RM auctions

It was in the Hotel Foyer at the auction, I think they were asking about 600K, it wasn't auctioned as far as I know. It now has a MK1 undertray and non crossover exhaust, it is silver/black, I noticed part nos stamped on for 1015 on two brackets near the gearbox /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This sounds like the (former) Don Davis car. There are apparently two cars claiming to be 1012 - the Davis car and another one that was built up from the remains of its original tub (which was thought to be beyond repair). I heard that Davis sold it for $1.3 million when he sold it. Not sure how many people it's passed through since...
