For those of you who were alarmed by the recent channel 7 report on the extent of ice cap melt and the sea level going to rise 200 feet. You will see that the extent of ice cover this year has actually increased over 2007 and is heading towards the average cover from 1979 to 2000.

Pete, good to see some factual data which suggests we won't have half the arctic shelf floating down the Florida coast.

But, it seems like everyone I talk to has noticed some dramatically enhanced weather patterns over the last 5 or more years - colder in cold places, hotter in hot places, more rain in wet places, more hurricanes, etc. It certainly seems like the weather has become more extreme - most of the records for high/low temps, drought, etc. have been set in the last 10 years. Something is definitely going on and it can't be good for our children - just my personal sense of it all.

Well here in Brisbane it just about got back to normal after a long period of drought, summer is back to being our wet season with storms and flooding up north. Hopefully winter will also be back to normal with hot sunny days and warm balmy nights.

The truth is, science and major Universities have been bilking money out the Federal Government for decades to justify all their goofy scientific exploration, and they are now lying to try and cover up all their BS.

The Ozone hole is closing over Antartica, Earths global temperture is dropping, Mars ice caps have stopped receeding, as have Earths. Yes, I do believe 100% that man has an impact on earh, a quite damaging one at times. But I also believe some things are bigger than man, and often times man thinks he is omnipotent. I think many good do for a vacation and sit down and relax. Most of whats going on we have very little part. So I picked BS, as most of the scientists probably know a lot more about what Federal forms and strings need pulling to fund a project than they do about studying science. Many have said "follow the money", and that statement has probably never been more true in our lifetimes than it is today.

Hi Pete,
I'm with you on this one and have just read a very good book that put's it all into perspective. I really recommend it as a sound counter argument to the current green (red?) brigade.
It has just come out in paperback even though the author had great difficulty getting the book published in the first place such is the media/government hype on the matter!

I read some crap article in "Sky" magazine on a delta flight this weekend. Darryl Hannah was interviewed talking about how we needed to get away from all our "excess" living in big houses and fancy cars.

She mentions that she has some solar and low energy aspects to ALL of her houses.

i'm doing my bit for global warming........putting the biggest engines in whatever i have, so when my granchildren grow up, there's less fossil fuel left to ruin thier world!! everyone should do the same! let's use up all this terrible polluting fuel, making a better world for our offspring (i've started drinking triple gins to do my part to stop binge drinking, no alcohol left, no problem!!)

You forgot to mention "greenhouse gas," carbon dioxide that represents about 41 hundreths of one percent of the atmosphere and was about a dozen times more prevelant during one of the past ice ages (also from ice core sample data)

Has anyone found the Humvee's that caused the ending of the last ice age? Wasnt it about 30 years ago they were screaming global cooling? Now since global warming is not making sence either the new phrase is "climate change".
