Yes I have seen several of them, but I must say, they look much larger and faster on video. I'm afraid that they are beginning to realize that come the summer, huge winged cats and San Francisco Bay are not going to work!
After the unfortunate death on the Swiss boat, they have greatly lowered the max permitted wind and it seems that they will have to start the races much earlier in the day. In the summer, after about 1:00 the winds will almost always be way too high.
We are all looking forward to the races, but I sure wish they had gone with big planing mono-hulls!
You can see from the film, that these boats are very fast, additionally, the wind on that day looks to be quite light. I'm thinking 10 to 15 knots with no white caps. On almost any summer day along the City Front you are looking at big, very cold waves and 25 to 35 knots easy!
