Tornado Fuel sender access help

Hi all

I am trying to cut my fuel sender access holes into my sill tops but don't know how big to cut my holes. Could any Tornado owners please post the diameter of the holes they have cut.

Also please could some owners post some pictures of their access holes and the fuel sender removable access panels as I am trying to work out how these should look.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Trevor

Thanks Ian, yours looks great.

I see the covers you've made are circles. Do some people make the covers oblong as I've seen a lot of GT40 images with these style covers.

Is this for originality?

Thanks

I would imagine that the sender for that particular tank is at that location, and an oblong cover can be overall larger without needing a larger diameter. The Tornado senders are at the rear anyway so a cover in the same location as the one in the picture would have no use. I guess it depends on whether you'rer going to cover/carpet the cockpit or leave bare in aluminium or powder coat. I am carpeting so have just made it round and unfancy. Took me a few of attempts to fabricate a good round cover, twice!

I've attached some drawings that might help.

I use the ETB float/lever style fule level sender for all my cars, so one drawing shows the fitting details for that (helps anyone designing fuel tanks, and also hole sizes for access panels). The other drawing shows an oblong cover that i use.
