As far as impacts and heavy damage go , it is testament to the skill of these two pilots that the passenger seats have not collapsed in anyway which in turn led to a completely successful ditching and no loss of life. Also of interest is all the PSU (passenger service Units) are deployed. These are the over head hatches where "a mask like this will appear which you pull sharply to start the flow of oxygen and put over your face and mouth and breath normally before helping others". Whether this has been subsequently done to remove the oxygen generators from each unit - who knows. I can't think why they would have been deployed for a forced landing though there is evidence of masks in one of the overhead luggage unit.
As an aside, if you're a passenger and you ever see all the PSU hatches open and the masks deploy, and yours does not open, slide a credit card along the inboard side seam and it should then open. On Ryan Air and Easy Jet they've probably been left off the spec when the aeroplane was ordered or they've been removed or you need to put a £2 coin in the slot instead of a credit card. Seriosly though, when it gets to the stage of trying to open a PSU you might as well kiss your arse good bye as you'll probably be hypoxic.......

Kind of wonder would you could salvage off of it. Other than the cockpit section electronics, most of the plane was imersed in salt water.

Dave, I think it is all scrap and of no value except by weight. Nothing would ever be allowed to be used in an aeroplane again. Every item in the build is serial numbered
and not just stamped on the outside but nowadays electronically within the equipment as well so the J.A.A. know exactly what was in it when it ditched. I'm sure it will only be allowed to be sold to a reputable breaker, ie not to Mexico or Asia. Looking at the EFIS displays - (The Electronic Flight Instrument System - the main flying CRT displays), and the FMC (Flight Management Computer) displays they have definitely been underwater.
I cannot think of many, if any, aeroplanes that have been totally immersed in salt water and that have ever been salvaged. Always Scrapped.

If it goes on the cheap, many component parts, like brake hyd. crowns, landing gear, flight control servos, hyd. accumulators, actuators and pumps, etc. can be salvaged and overhauled to sell at a profit.

Isn't the Hudson dirty water not salt water. Video of the event showed everthing flowing toward the ocean.
