Water flow direction

Can someone please help with this question? I'm running the lines from the engine to the heater/ac unit. I've got one line from the front of the intake manifold and the other line from the lower fitting on the water pump. I need to know which will feed the heater so I can fit the shut off valve on the inlet side of the heater. It's a standard rotation pump on a 347.
Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

The two small ports on the water pump are returns.

Supply the heater from the manifold, or the thermostat housing small outlet or the small pipe brazed to the copper "C" pipe, which ever lends to the most convenient setup.

One of those supply's has to go to the top of header tank though.

Ref. pg #40 of the build manual.

Best,
Scott

Easy way to remember ::

Water Pumps always suck....

Any port on the water pump is a suction line..

BTW - this only applies to normal flow (not reverse flow) water pumps that are belt driven.
