Water Pump Hoses

Need to know about water pump hoses for GT40 with 302 and standard water pump... Are there any suggestions as to what hoses to use since this is obviously not (I guess) a standard installation directly to a radiator.

Thanks

Yes, good point that I didn't think about. It's an RCR GT40. Thing now is that the dummy mock-up motor and G50 trans have long since been removed for bodywork and paint, etc. Now I am in reassembly phase and motor is on it's way... I'd just like to have a really good starting point on the hoses as they will be a bit of a bugger to install I am guessing.
Thanks all for the support!! DSCN0754.JPG20141123_145207.jpg20150419_102734.jpg

Not sure how the RCR water tubes exit in the back but you will need some 90 degree rubber or hard tube bends plus an assortment of long rubber tubes to get you to both the water pump and thermostat housing. What housing are you using? That in and of itself is a consideration if you don't have something specific at the right angle exiting the block. Typically straight up or straight out don't work. Also, what water pump are you using and what side exit does it have as that also changes what you will need to do. Suggest you look at some of the build threads on this topic to get more familiar with the design and configurations people have used. Finally you need to consider what header tank you are using and how many connections it has. Typically there would be one from the water pump and 2 bleeds - one from the radiator and one from the thermostat housing. Also - are you using a heater? that also must connect into this.

There was a thread on here many years ago and someone had a great idea.
Every rubber connector he used was either 90 or45 degrees and then connected up with length of beaded aluminium tube. The reasoning was he only needed to get 2 spares a 90 and a 45…

Sort of KISS ——- keep it stupidly simple

Everyone, all great replies - Thank you!!!

So, yes that got me thinking so got down and did some measuring... the 90s & 45s makes perfect sense!!

I do have a header tank mounted higher than the thermostat. The tank has a radiator cap, overflow bung, and a 3/8 npt on the side and a 1/2 npt on the bottom. I'm not running a heater in the car (Texas = a/c only), I could run lines off the water pump heater loop to the header tank, or would it be permissible to run a single fill line? There are 2 bleeders on the top corners of the radiator.

Thanks again.

The water pump (you didn't answer what side the inlet is on) should have 2 outlets on it. Upper goes to the thermostat housing (the bypass hose) and the lower goes to the header tank (Normally goes to the heater). That would be your 1/2" connection. Normally this is 5/8". The 3/8" bung should be used as the bleed back to either the thermostat housing or radiator. It all depends on what parts you are using as to final connections.

I did that, although not on a GT40. See the detail at this post Canamsa water piping .

90 elbows with different diameters at each are available, if it should be necessary to change diameters at some point in the system. 45s are only with one diameter right through.
