what type of body would fit my chassis?

I am contemplating a build that starts with a pre-existing chassis. The wheelbase is 95.3 inches and the front and rear track is ~60 inches. The sill to sill inside dimension would be ~49 inches. This 49 inches includes the two seats (driver and passenger) and the center tunnel. Each seat would butt up against the outside sill and the inside tunnel. The steering column is approx 13.5 inches from the centerline of the car.

My sense is that the Porsche 917 and Mclaren type bodies would not work, as the inside dimensions for the cockpit appear much smaller than the 49 inches I have.

What bodies could I adapt to these dimensions? The car is mainly for street use, with occasional track. I have a tight budget, but am handy with fiberglass....so I'm trying to find an inexpensive body shell that I could adapt

Any thoughts?

thanks

h Dean,

you say you are looking for an inexpensive body... and your handy with fibre glass...... what about making your own body...

there is a guy on this site, who is building a scratch build 917. he is making his own body, he has laid some fine steel mesh over his chassis, to get his shape, then he has covered, the mesh, with what looks like blue tape. I cant remember what he said he was going to do next, but Im sure you would know what to do, as he have good experiance with fibreglass.....If you look around on this site, you should find him..

I hope this helps
