If you venture out in sub zero conditions, what do you think the best
arctic style parka? I'm looking at buying the Canada Goose Snow Mantra but before I do I'd like to hear other peoples opinions?

David, sorry for the thread drift, but any truth in the strong rumour that Red Bull F1 team are selling to Audi?

Regarding the cold-weather coats you referenced:

No one should be out in the kind of weather these coats kit you out for.

I actually spent some time last night looking for a newer and warmer winter coat. What I really wanted was a US-made Eddie Bauer down coat like the ones I had in college, which is a very long time ago. I found one on eBay- evidently they made them in USA until a few years ago, so I bid on it and we'll see if I get it. EB used to be the best expedition gear you could get, but that was a long time ago. The coats you are looking at, David, would keep you warm on Everest, I think, but you shouldn't go there. You can freeze just as easily in Florida this week without all that climbing.

The possible trip to Bodo and Andenes and even Svalbard is to renew a couple of aquaintances and see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Sure , I used to see them so very frequently on the SFO or LAX to LHR trips in my previous existence but visiting Norway is always quite special. (I spent a lot of time up there on the Shackleton Mk2 as well as the Nimrod MR1 doing rather naughty things around the North Cape as well as looking for a well known trawler that went to the bottom, but has now been discovered on the sea bed) I love the area and a decent cold weather coat would seem appropriate.
I do recall the Eddy Bauer brand - I think they even did a Branded Ford Explorer. I imagine their coats would be quite something as well.
I'm going for the dark blue Canada Goose Snow Mantra, with their gloves and hat as well and it should be here next weekend. I've still got my thermals and boots so I should be OK.
