What did he do?
He certainly improved foreign relations for the US but I don't think he's prevented/ended any wars or dedicated his life to charitable causes.......has he??

No. He hasn't. He's promised a bunch of stuff that hasn't been delivered and the ones that have been delivered have been changed and revised to the point where they are not recognizable. He had the potential to be one of the greatest presidents, but he has only shown that he's a wind bag who does nothing but make empty promises and try to screw over those who have worked hard for their success. He's catering our nation to the lazy and punishing the successful. I'm not a fan of him or his plans for my country at all.

Well, all you have to think about are these:
1. Nominated 12 days after elected. So all they were considering was what he PROPOSED DOING.
2. Who are the nominating committee. A totally socialist country that is glad to see him draw the U S closer to the European model and in every speech given in Europe was apologetic for our arrogance as opposed to what we have done for the world in relief, aid, or bailouts!
3. Know also that the past winners don't do anything to make you proud of the award with the exception of Martin Luther King. Somehow Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and Yasser Arafat are not those I would want commonality with.
4. If you saw the list of those that did not get the award in those years, you would see what the award stands for.

I think the peace prize lost credibility when it was awarded to the terrorists, sorry freedom fighters, Mandella and Arafat.
I heard that he is also getting the Nobel prize in Economics for the wonderful way the stimulus program is working, and is a shoe in for the Economics prize next year for his redistribution of wealth to those who need it the most. The 9th ward in New Orleans (help me help me), the gangs of Chicago and LA, and those who used to be employed by ACORN.
Now 1.5 Million USD....in three months with a falling dollar 1.2 million USD.

I'll admit it, I'm a big fan of Pres. Obama. However, there are many more other people who are much more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. People that have toiled thanklessly, and in relative anonymity. Sure, perhaps their impact is not as great because they're not an international leader but I guess I thought the Nobel Peace Prize was more about individual commitment and achievement than notoriety.
The improvements Pres. Obama has brought about in international relations (North Korea, China, Iran, etc.) are arguably just part of his job and, frankly, the work of it is carried out by others (not Obama). To be fair, Pres. Bush didn't pursue these international dialogs because he didn't want to promote peace, he just (I think, mistakenly) thought that a different tactic (isolationism) would be more productive in bringing about an eventual resolution. His second term came to an end before anything really positive happened with that approach so we'll never know if it's a valid approach.
Pres. Obama does deserve some kind of prize (independent of the Presidency) for breaking through racial barriers in his path to the White House, but the Nobel Peace Prize isn't it.

Spent in excess of $10,000,000.00 chasing an Olympic bid for his home town, and generally bad mouthed the US worldwide. Just a minor correction - the general nomination process has a Feb 1st deadline,
but the Committee members themselves may nominate up to the first Committee
meeting, which is held sometime in March or April I believe. So, while it is entirely
possible someone outside of the committee nominated Obama, that information will
not be published for 50 years. Also, it is not unheard of people being nominated by
the Feb 1st deadline in "anticipation" of what they might accomplish later in the
year, only to get the nomination in by the early Feb 1st deadline. For example,
the Committee wanted to include Carter in 1978 for the Camp David award along
with el Sadat and Begin, but the nomination was not received in time.
