Oh....that explains it!

From what I have read, the Liberal gene is indeed inherited from out parents, it is called intelligence!

Statistics show the higher the IQ, the higher the education, the more likely someone will be liberal.

Sorry but true.

Craig,

That has always been the argument that concervatives make, it's the liberal professers that influence the students to be liberal.

So here is a question for you.

Why are there so few concervative teachers/professers?

Is it that conervatives are selfish and don't want to help others, or is it that when conervatives become educated and more aware of the world, they become liberals?

The study that Doc started this thread with shows that the more people are exposed to others and the world in general, the more likely a person is to be liberal.

Ever hear the term "if you can't do, then teach"?

Conservatives are too busy out there changing the world by employing the liberals, and paying all the taxes so that liberals can "become more aware of the world"!

I mean I know quite a few people that own their own businesses and I can't think of ONE that considers themselves to be a "liberal" or "progressive".

And BTW- It's spelled C-O-N-S-E-R-V-A-T-I-V-E, not conervative, or concervative.

Maybe that's a sign of all the good your "higher education" has gotten you? :)

I wonder how many people that consider themselves "liberals" are going to be in attendance at SEMA this next week?

My bet is...NOT MANY! :)

Jim,

Careful with extrapolating these results! Oh...I guess that was my conservatism creeping out...:uneasy:

I have often thought that my time studying for my PhD had the most influence perhaps on my conservative bent. Through the years of training I perceived that there are few "black and white" answers, rather the answers likely fall in the middle "gray" area. When I later went to medical school I had difficulty reconciling some of the "facts" the lecturers would present, feeling their answers were either simplistic or incomplete based on my research and experiences (I had seen both sides, having also been a lecturer at two medical schools for first and second year students).

Maybe I was one of the few conservative professors you speak of.

This one "study" that I posted should be taken with a conservative grain of sand. It will need peer review and independent validation (Yikes! Here I go again :furious:). But, fun anyway.

So Mike you are saying that convervatives do not go into the teaching profession because they are too busy changing the world by employing liberals. Do you really belive that?

I live and work in the Silicon Valley, a vast majority of the folks here are Liberal, tell me again about owning business, paying taxes and "changing the world".

Yes, I know.

The Bay Area is known as one of the bastions of "liberalism" in the U.S., and well known for that to much of the world.

At least by those that wish to put labels upon people!

Tell me Mr. Craik, are you one to prefer a "liquid lunch" on Fridays?

If so, then I understand where your rather loose use of the English language is coming from. If not, well... :)

You gents are great fun!

See you again next week.

Oh, that's right, I'll be at SEMA. Ground zero for "liberal" free America!

Too bad I'll be missing the discussions that end world hunger, remove all things that could be used to hurt someone else with, and accomplish "world peace"! LOL!

Jim,

Excellent! My experience (with lesser education though) was opposite in that the black & white-to-shades of gray transition pushed me to ask questions rather than accept the standard answer, which promoted my move away from a "conservative" point of view on certain aspects of our society (to something more mid-range).

Flame suit on: Perhaps the definition of convervatism is the conservation (saving against the use of) of open discussion. :poke:
