Media mis-reporting again?

So the media are at it again.

BBC are saying that there is now doubt over the entire future of the G8, without Russia! WHY? Who says so? This comment has had zero information to back it up. It is simply thrown out there, supposedly for effect/drama?!

Also on the BBC, reporters this morning, more than one, have stated that Germany and France are FULLY dependant upon Russian Gas. This is blatantly incorrect. Is it also DELIBERATELY misleading?

BBC reporting on mud slide in the USA. Stating this morning, that there have been 175 reports of missing people, without clarifying how many people are reported to be missing. There is a difference! I strongly suspect this is another deliberate inflation of details, to hype up an already devastating situation, without any need other than sensationalism?

For my $.02 worth on it, the only news medium I trust at all anymore is NPR. And at that, I believe precious little of their political coverage - but since I believe none of the others, I think that speaks volumes..

NPR (which I have listened to for years and supported intermittently) has a decidedly left bias. But they are still a more reliable news source on factual issues and they will publish corrections. At least they are not convinced of their own invincibility.

I always watch Russia Today and Al Jazheera as well as BBC. It's quite amazing the different takes on the same bit of news. It pays to shop around these days...

Another of my personal hates, is the UK Weather reports on TV News.

Note the arrows depicting wind over the UK. They literally, suggest 1000 MPH winds and swirling Typhoon-like wind patterns every day.

By contrast, watch a foreign Satellite station reporting weather across the entire European Continent by section (including the UK), region by region. The same weather, the same winds over and around the UK, BUT, depicted at a much more reasonable scale of size and speed.

In the UK of late, it seems that everything must be exaggerated to beyond all reason. I complain weekly to the BBC and they always reply that they attempt to provide an unbeatable service and my complaint has been noted!

Mega-storms, hyper-typhoons, super-storms blah blah blah.

Agree, NPR does a better job of presenting the facts and covering relevant news. They do a lot less :dead: then the other networks. They certainly have a left bias, but I can tolerate it more as it's not as flagrant and in-your-face. There's a lot less of the self-righteous arrogance associated with the other networks as well. I'm amazed that a journalist who's previous job was a political operative (not evena press secretary) such as George Snuffleupagus can profess to be even remotely objective.
