RCR's Next car should be.....

A different direction?

There's been a lot of chit chat about the Elios three wheeled econo trike thing and I'm thinking Fran could definitely come up with something better. So how about something like this? (Obviously, the wheels would be more "normal")

That's pretty cool looking.

I'd think this would be a pretty simple for Fran to make. A few tweaks on an SL-C. done. With the LS-7, the Aquila is closing in on $200k. Not street legal either..

And then there is a vehicle that would be even more awesome, Niki Smart's SUB G1 three-wheeler. Fran, you would not have to worry: the SUB G1 has already been in production! :)

Just throwing this idea out there... How about a front engine version of the SLC Le Mans? Something like this, but with Fran's SLC design language?

I think a front engine sports car would open up a new market. Potentially a lot less expensive (total cost). A great alternative for guys wanting something more modern than a cobra (and non-ford folks).

That would be awesome! Something that could use an entire C6-C7 underpinning with factory transaxle but lightened and simplified...

That is a great idea. Several different bodies could be offered for the same platform. The style shown in your post; a 1950s vintage Lister/Ferrari/Jaguar one; the old front engined Panoz LMP1 style.

Thinking about how to produce it. The wheelbase on the first is 98ish and SLC 104 so close enough I would think. Use the SLC chassis and rolling chassis and make the GT1 body. You could use real porsche doors, hood, headlights, tailights, turn signals, window glass, etc. This would make the manufacturing process much easier for Fran. I would buy this for sure as it is my favorite car ever.

Just don't follow another car at speed over a rise in the road or you'll backflip!

Haven't posted here in a while. Just saw this today and Fran has GOT to come up with a proper chassis to take this motor!

Something roadster-only with minimal bodywork to both show off the engine and drastically reduce the build time.

Fran probably knows all the principals involved, as they are in Michigan and worked for Katech and GM/Cadillac on the Cadillac Sixteen.

Build Your Own Cadillac Sixteen with this 14-liter LS

And here's a decent walkaround video:

The sound alone would be worth the price of admission!

Miura.

I had the honor of meeting Mr. Hall and touring RCR while on a family vacation, and the subject (...next car) came up as I was wearing a shirt with a Miura on it, so I know the answer but have to submit it again anyways. Obviously transvers V12 drivetrains/donors are near impossible to find or source...but I'd be happy with an LS3 or Coyote in place of a V12. That just leaves the transmission, which may also be a challenge. The GM F40 transaxle is said to handle around 300 ftlbs, but that may not be enough and may be pushing it. I would propose creating a laser or waterjet cut housing and cover to house the clutch assembly and gearing to transfer power to a Tremec TKO mounted parallel and next to the engine and a custom (again laser or waterjet cut) differential housing at the output end of the transmission, creating a durable transmission in the same configuration as the Miura with nearly off-the-shelf parts. It could just be my optimism and enthusiasm (and engineering) talking, but man I want that car. If all else fails, mount the engine and transaxle just like a GT40 but I think with enough determination and thought, that could be avoided. Whatever Mr. Hall builds, it will be awesome and relatively affordable (great value), but my fingers are crossed....

Two others that come to mind include a Ferrari 250LM or a pre-anniversary addition Countach. All the good countach replicas have disappeared and now the prices for genuine cars are through the roof!

I know its an auto but what about the old GM th425 it is the trans used in the Olds Toranado and if I remember right has th400 internals should be good for a fair amount of power if you can find them.I think it might work in the Muira.
