I would still buy one of these today!
This was originally built with a Corvette V8 power!
Seems like a perfect addition to RCR's classic race car line.

Fran, and this is a serious idea; a Replica/Tribute of the Porsche 917 50th Anniversary Tribute Design Study...

This would be a way to utilize leeway provided by the design study concept to lengthen/widen the current 917 platform and utilize watercooled Porsche powerplants as non-sacrilege as Porsche's new design study for the 50th would be using a watercooled engine...

Although the wheels would need to be a larger version (935 magnesium 5 spoke style from IMSA) not the 918 wheels. Thoughts?

Yes, please!

has Fran posted on the forum in the last year? Not sure he is looking at this thread anymore. Great idea on the revised 917!

I keep coming back to this thread to drool over this car. I love the SL-c, but I'd sell a kidney to land one of these in my driveway.

Well if you want to drool, here's the 908 design exercise done by a group of young guys that got Porsche's attention. Sadly like the 50th 917, they'll never make either one.

What would you sell for the new 908? lol. Stuff of dreams, and what could be done with an SLC chassis.

Hard to tell the exact scale...but, I'm thinkin' about 2 feet ought ought to be cut off the car's rear section from a looks standpoint. Aero be darned, there's waaaay to much overhang aft of the rear wheels. Screws up the car's silhouette.

GREAT looking car otherwise IMPO.
