Superlite Aero

Hi john,

The timeline on my Aero got pushed out due to several supplier delays. Realistically looking at june/July for initial debugging on skid pad followed by some track day shake downs.

Looking at 800 lb lighter than an SLC with similar power and more downforce if that gives you an idea of pace. :)

My car is going to be very similar to Paul's but my engine's not as rad - I am going with a stock GM Performance LS376/480 495HP Hot Cammed LS3 engine. I expect to take delivery of my completed car in March of 2020. BTW, I am selling my Motec Dash (new never used) and Tilton Pedal assembly (also new and unused) if anyone is interested.

The gated shifter that came with my aero is the new box that RCR sells.

I sold it to a member and am running sequential OBR paddles with an albins st6 m gear box.

Still using the GM ecu? How are you handling shift cut and throttle blip? And did the transaxle fit no problem? I'm interested in these, but I really want a sequential in whatever I go with.

Are you planning on racing (what series) or just a track toy?

Gm ecu isn't capable of managing a sequential racing transaxle and shiftec paddle system. We are running pectel antares 8 electronics package that is designed for the task. Shift cut, throttle blip and a host of other factors are managed thru the pectel system.

We had to fabricate several braces and made some enhancements to the aero chassis (lowered engine mounts and also brought engine forward for COG and bringing weight closer to the ground. Supporting the albins box wasn't a simple bolt in procedure as there are a number of design and engineering factors to consider.

Building the car for endurance racing and SU class. Might also run some global time attack.

Yea I knew the GM ecu couldn't do it, which is why I was wondering. If you ever have time I'd love to see more pictures of your build and modifications. What engine are you running, someone above said it was "rad" but didn't see you talk about it.

Running a custom spec DP motor from katech. High revving recipe that they ran in 2016 at daytona/sebring/thunderhill with just fluid changes in between each race.

The Motec is no longer for sale. I'm going with a Motec electronics package so the dash is useful. ;-)

It's possible in some states without MCO depending on whatever paperwork you could get... or forge... It wuold be pretty easy if bought without the drive train.

Our sequential conversion to the Graziano will work with the GM ECU and won’t have any fitment issues.

Delivering the first couple conversions to customers in the next couple weeks - hope they will be up and running shortly afterward!

Best,
John

The graziano AMT conversion arrived at the shop today. There is a big distraction at the shop now with TX2K coming up with an attempted world record with a S30 chassis in the plans, so I would be surprised if things aren’t pushed back accordingly. Crossing my fingers that the process evolves quickly.

Hey everyone. My Aero is almost ready for the track! It has a stock GM Performance Hot Cammed LS3 (now broken in) mated to an Albins ST6-M. I am using all Motec for the electronics (C127 Dash, M150 ECU, PDM30). We should have the shakedown day in the next 3 weeks out at Buttonwillow Raceway. I'm sure there will be some teething issues but we look forward to them. Here's a few pics of the car in the shop before the wiring harness was done and then on the dyno for break-in. This car is going to be a hoot!

Awesome. How exciting. I look forward to hearing how it goes. Buttonwillow is a fun track. Technical, some fast corners. Do you plan to come up to Thunderhill? That's my home track. Would love to see the car and ask a lot of questions. lol.

Hi Kent. Yeah I know Buttonwillow and Thunderhill very well having raced the Nationals/Majors with SCCA for 8 years in F1000 (FB). In fact, I still have a couple track records at Buttonwillow for F1000. :) And Thunderhill is one of my my favorite tracks (east course). I am going to race the Aero in SU with NASA and will submit my request to the SCCA to race in PX so hopefully I'll be running Thunderhill at least one weekend a season. Feel free to stop by when we are there - if it's after track closing I'll even give you a cold beer. ;)
