One more SLC bites the dust.

Looks like one more of Allan's work has bit the dust.

Looks like it was this one

Not that I'm sure I understand the 'cash value'notation, but that number taken at face value has this car woefully under-insured.

I tried to register with that auction. They seem difficult to deal with. Maybe I can speak to someone there tomorrow.

They want $200 fee to register. There website won't disclose buyer/auction fees until you pay the $200. They have no info on the title status.

Anyone used them before?

It is no longer available for sale so don't spend any money registering.

One would think the outfit could have (should have) informed Ian the car was no longer for sale when he called.
'Can't help but wonder if they'd have taken his $200 and THEN told him.
(I'm always the cynic.)

'Darned shame that car was wrecked.
It was sweet.

I had not called yet. I was trying the online registration.

It irritated me that they took a bunch of personal information before they disclosed their registration fee. I then had to pay the registration fee to find out the aqctual auction/purchase fees. It all seems like a scam.

So $71k was the insured value? Any idea hw much it sold for? Lots of good parts if the rear and interior are intact. If the frame can be salvaged or repaired someone could get a great deal.

This thing finally sold from the IAA auction. I watched the bidding finish on it 2 weeks in a row. Apparently the insurance company didn't like the high bid the first week and rejected it. Ditto for the second week. They auctioned it again a 3rd time. I didn't catch the end of that one, but it is no longer listed on their site. I think it only got to about $7,500 the first 2 times. I saw $17,500 the third time but not sure where it ended. I spoke to a 'manager' at the auction house trying to find out more. Reading between the lines, it seems the insurance company was hoping to get north of $25,000. In my opinion, with auction fees and the repair tag, the car wasn't worth that type of money.

As far as the auction site, I would not recommend trying to do business with them. Since this vehicle was in FL, I had to use a 3rd party broker. At $25k sale price I would have had over $30k after all the various fees and taxes.

I don't think there's anything of value left on the car. If it burned the tires off the back of the car engine and trans or most likely damaged. front of the frame has melted. Not much left.

No, not the pic 1/2 way through this thread. No fire, 'just' front end damage.
