Door windows cloud

Have a SPF, when out in sun the door windows cloud and fog. Not from condensation but appears to be internal to the plastic, chemical breakdown I would think. Once in shade clears up. Any other SPF owners experience this? Besides replacing any remedies?

That happens on acrylics when they have super fine scraches you may not be able to see from cleaning.

Aircraft windows get that issue easily if improperly cleaned. One thing is to also, never use a swirling motion on lexan or other type windows. Always use only a back forth method and always in the same direction, Front to back is best as when it will haze out at some point it is not as bad and you can still see out of.

Basically the plastic needs polished. Micromesh is a good kit for resolving those issues.

Thanks for the responses. When at Olthoff’s in 2024 car was new, new and they fogged up sitting outside. I asked about it and was told all SPF GT’s seem to do this? Never thought about much until last week when sitting out in the sun. I think Rob is correct on the lexan curing. The windows are spot clean as are the headlight covers and both fog the same, then clear up when out of the sun.

Mine do this too (P2461 Chassis) and if your's was new at Olthoff's in 2024 I'd say we have reasonably close chassis numbers.

I've considered replacing with Lexan, but am hesitant about the fitting since they are oversized. If there is a way to make this better with polishing I'd rather do that I think.

Hi Glenn, I am 2453. Not sure polishing is the answer from some research on the subject, but will try next week if I get some sun. I am willing to bet this is just SA plastic and it's doing its thing.

Personally, I think they got a bad run of plexiglass but Superformance doesn't seem very keen on that theory.....

I know it will never be as clear as actual glass, but the milky cloud in the sunshine really makes the car look......cheap.

Which is something that it most certainly was NOT.

The headlight and fog light covers are also subject to this, but to a lessor extent.

Out of the direct sunlight / heat it isn't an issue at all. Also notice the helicopter vent added to the window doesn't have any trouble staying clear in the sunlight / heat.

I see what you are referring too now, that definitely isn't from external crazing or superfine scratches I am used to seeing on poly panels.

That is definitely poor quality spec material.

Yea, yours is pretty bad, mine not far behind. Wonder if we would get any satisfaction out of SPF?
I'm planning to re-visit my complaint to Superformance, you might want to reach out to them as well.

Had an issue with an A/C switch and they were great about getting a replacement to me ASAP.

I had the same issue among others with my SPF, and just ordered new ones but never installed them before I sold the car

I am getting conflicting information regarding the SPF side windows and light covers. Is it Lexan or Plexiglass? Both are referenced in various spots on the web but AI could be "clouding" the issue. thanks

Glenn, who were / are you dealing with, Hillbanks or Superformance directly in SA?
Hi- Tech does not handle any parts or warranty directly with SPF customers, that must be done via the dealer. And since there was a Valentines Day Massacre of dealers, many are no longer interested in warranty fulfillment.
