Just purchased this chap for my tank return from swirl pot, nifty 3 way valve

My only concern is the diameter of the ports they are fairly small, so question, if there is a restriction to the return will that cause issue? I am thinking the swirl pot will be pressured at the LP pump setting and just sit in the pot as required, is there a need to get it back to the tank at the same rate?
