A question of aesthetics

Such a shame they weren't persevered with..Far more worthy than some other replicas although we don't get the ugly ducklings we used to in the 70s/80s..

The irony rolls on, that is my friends old car. If you look at it again you will notice the front and rear reg numbers are different. He reckons he only got half the speeding tickets he should of. :) I am really surprised no one has picked up on that because he sold it a good few years ago.

Definitely into this car I never knew existed!

I want to thank Mike for bringing it to my attention. There is no doubt I would have wanted to build a replica of this back in the day and race it of course!

Well, I might have 20/20 vision but reading a number plate (even if there was one) flashing past at 100 mph is something only a Truvelo can manage...

Next?

From some angles, reminiscent of this:

Surely, the nost beautiful car of the '60's/'70s, or is it just me?

A couple of people were building them on here but no sign of them these past few years... :(

Not sure if I have got the wrong end of the stick but here are some pics at 0 mph. Took me 3 goes at reading them before I got the difference.

Yes, thanks. I couldn't access that site hence Bob's 200 mph drive by solution...:veryangry:

It's all ok, really. I have taken some Oramorph and am now quite calm..

And b r e a t h e .....

Well, it is wet play day today. I was supposed to go to the surgery for a flu jab but decided that I didn't have long enough mooring lines for the scooter..even if they have a mooring pontoon, which I doubt as it is in a car park.

EDit: Ah!!! I see what's happened. Bob's clip was very very short yes? During this time I was distracted peeling a grape and failed to notice the passing of said video clip upon conclusion of which went seamlessly into a French video of a Le Mans Classic with a M6GT circling at 200 mph. Mystery solved.

And, r e l a x ........

Oh come on Keith you don't expect us to believe that do you,

Unless it's the butlers 1/2 day there is no way you would be peeling your own grapes :-)

Your pictures in post 24 are of the original prototype M6GT which was also Bruce McLarens personal road car.

Thanks

Thanks Andy. It looks fabulous. Hope you are going to build up the parts you have with the original body.. It deserves to be out there....

I agree with the Colonel.
The P68 is a really hot car, while still squished looking (and it could be shortened a tad) I think it pulls it off a little better than the Ferrari. The Ferrari is a little pudgy looking while the P68 is better fitted to its wheels. Either way they are both ONE person cars.

There was a guy around here that built a blue M6BGT for a customer, it used original bodywork, CanAm Mc wheels and a tube frame supported mono so it looked proper and was still strong enough for road use. Beautiful car.

As having very beautiful lines, this photo shows a very unfriendly ingress/egress seat position relationship to the door in that the driver/passenger sit nearly in-line with the A pillar. To get into and out of the M6GT, you've got to practice with your kid's jungle-gym.

this is especially visible at 2:10, and 2:26, and the egress at 3:01 into the below video
