Al, below the line are jobs lost, sometime after Dec 2007 we started loosing jobs. But from the day the stimulus went into effect, the number of jobs lost started to decline, in 2010 the job loss stopped and the rest are job gains.

This photo was from today, the private sector jobs have continued to improve.

White House press secretary Jay Carney gestures to a display about job numbers during the daily news briefing at the White House in Washington, Friday.

I know many Conservitives think we should have let the banks fail, let Wall Street fail, let the Auto Industry fail and absolutly no stimulus...............to see how that turns out look at 1929.

Thank God Conservatives are not in charge!

Al if you click on the photo you will see that 8,500,000 private sector jobs have been added in the last 45 months.

Does that chart include all of the temporary jobs of the census? And has it been corrected to actual numbers as per all of the job reports that have been adjusted down each month from the gross differences in actual vs. calculated.

Jim,
The News identified that all Americans are to be given due process, even if they are a threat to national security. This is in the Constitution. Although I am not unhappy that these people were "stopped" from committing more atrocities, they are still Americans. If drones have the ability to identify the target, then they should have been caught and brought to justice rather than exterminate with extreme prejudice.
The news is just asking the same questions we wonder. Will our government use drones to terminate "criminals" in the US? What if there is a mistake and innocent life is taken? How much power is the administration going to give itself before we say enough.

Those radical Tea Party people are extremist, say you, so when will we be targeted. The IRS is already taking steps now for the 2014 elections to stop the grass roots groups like the Tea Party.

Yes Marc, we do need to worry about the Tea Party,

This is a quote from the Consevative Republican and Tea Party favorite Rand Paul from March 7th 2013.

“I’ve never argued against any technology being used when you have an imminent threat, an active crime going on. If someone comes out of a liquor store with a weapon and fifty dollars in cash, I don’t care if a drone kills him or a policeman kills him.”

That isn't just idol speculation about what could happen, that is a direct quote from a Republican Senator, an elected official with the ability to creat policy!

Marc, if you really are worried about Due Process and drones, you need to become a Democrat!

The same guy that just said in Detroit the minorities are being unfairly treated by the Justice System?
Also the quote stipulates an active crime. I don't think the Senator from Kentucky is agreeing to shoot a man for pocket change and some Jack Daniels. Police shoot only if there is no other alternative or is threatened. A drone has no threat against it other than its damage or destruction. In my opinion, the Senator is wrong in this quote. But not a reason to allow drones or be a Democrat. To be a Democrat means I can ignore the Constitution because it is outdated and no longer applies. Therefore kill without justification or jurisdiction. When the cops become Judges, we are all f'd.

Pete,

Pat also commented on "Drone strikes against Americans". He said this was a failing by President Obama, killing these poor inocent "Americans". Lets look at who was killed........

I guess Pat thinks we would be better off with these traitors alive, I disagree.

Jim, you failed to mention that Awlaki's 16-year-old son as well as two other individuals were "not specifically targeted by the US". The missile killed him, his teenage cousin and at least five other civilians on Oct. 14, 2011, while the boys were eating dinner at an open-air restaurant in southern Yemen. Jim, by your logic, the president should immediately clear out the guards and call a drone strike on the Gitmo detainee facility.
I guess I'm just not comfortable, as you apparently are, of ANY president deciding to execute an American and assuming the role of judge, jury and executioner. The left fervently criticized the warmonger Bush for his war on Iraq. He admitted later the intelligence was wrong. One must assume the same people that are providing the information to Mr. Obama for his "kill list" may not have all the accurate facts, sort of like Mr. Obama's claim that he didn't know the HealthCare.Gov website was a disaster. That level of awareness in a Chief Executive that is empowered to kill people at-will perhaps doesn't disturb you but it does me.

As for the stimulus employment numbers, in February 2009, the Obama Administration promised the American public that after their nearly trillion dollar stimulus too effect, the unemployment rate would drop down to 5.3% at the end of his first term. Well, even with the best sideward view, it's not. You may also remember unemployment still exceeded the Obama-guaranteed 8 percent unemployment rate two years after the bill's passage.
If you add up the promises, he boldly promised well over 5.5 million jobs “created or saved.” But reality turned out very differently: There were 2 million fewer people working in September 2011 than when Obama took office. On top of that, population growth by itself should have generated more than 3 million new jobs. By August 2011, the unemployment rate was still at 9.1 percent. It was no longer possible to claim the Stimulus had worked well. Since the government counts those that are long term unemployed (and are assumed to have given up searching for work) as "employed" for statistical purposes.
Since President Obama has been president, the U-6 unemployment rate (the "real unemployment number) rose from 14.25% in January 2009 to a high of 17.1% in October, November and December 2009 and the same rate in February, March, and April 2010. The U-6 rate did not fall below 14% under Obama until March 2013, when it hit 13.8%, the same rate for October 2013.
Jim, this is not success but I can't sum it up as well as did the President when he said,

Some jobs weren't shovel ready - Bing Videos

Yes Marc, we do need to worry about the Tea Party...

...and applaud the actions of the "Occupy" group, I suppose? We've plowed this field before, have we not? Which reminds me, you never answered my question: How many millions of dollars in damage to both persons and property occurred at the hands of "Occupiers" vs. "T-Partiers" in cities across the country...and how many "Occupiers" vs. "T-Partiers" have been arrested nationwide? Give an honest answer and then tell me again why it's the Tea Party we need to worry about?

That isn't just idol speculation about what could happen...

Yes it is.

Marc, if you really are worried about Due Process and drones, you need to become a Democrat!

Are you sure you want to open that whole "due process" can of worms?

Never mind. 'Don't really feel like rehashing the whole nine yards. You have a "Mulligan" this morning. Knock yourself out.

Pat, when speaking of Obamas failings, you said he spent big bucks on the stimulus with "nothing to show for it". The charts and the economy tell a different story.

Down with repressive moderators, we want bagpipes!

There, as Jim suggests, all sorts of reasons to take fair shots.

Let’s review the most recent:

More than 46 million on food stamps.

Nearly 1,000 executive orders.

The number of Americans age 16 or older who decided not to work or even to seek a job increased by 8,332,000 to a record 88,839,000 in President Obama’s first term -Bureau of Labor Statistics.

14% true unemployment rate.

A shambles of a foreign policy.

Economic stagnation.

The Iran nuclear negotiation fiasco.

The Obamacare roll-out fiasco and Obama’s lies to the American public.
-If you like your plan, you can keep it.
-You can keep your doctor
-Obamacare will save the average family $2,500 per year
-Obamacare will not raise taxes
-His campaign pledge of no tax increases

Other than these few things, he's the best president EVER!

How many were on food stamps during Gee-DUB's "reign"?

All presidents use executive orders...not the first, won't be the last. The real issue is WHY he had to resort to that number of EO's...and we can give that prize to John Boehner and the Republican controlled House of Representatives and their cry-baby, tantrum throwing TEA Party contingent. He had to do SOMETHING, considering that the Repubs were voting the party line EVERY time and holding things up...he did what he had to do and without those EO's I can't imagine what a mess our contry would be in now.

The most recent unemployment data I have seen shows that the unemployment rate is at it's lowest for the past 5 years...seems Bee-OH has made progress over what Gee-DUB left him. Teenagers are at 20%...but if a job is available, who would rather a teenager get that job over an "adult" trying to support a family???

Many of us feel Bee-OH's foreign policy is MUCH preferable to that of the most recent Republican POTUS...the highly "revered???" Gee-DUB. Remember his "Mission Accomplished" speech on the deck of the aircraft carrier? Ha...ha...ha...ho-hum.

Seems the stock market is back up and now at record highs...Good news for the rich (the most recent reports stated that the top 1% are the only ones who have benefitted from the recent upswing in the economy, though...but, then, that's the way it always goes.)

Sounds to me like we as a multi-national negotiation team have almost tied Iran's hands on the issue...thanks to the leadership of Bee-0H!

The ACA website roll-out was not Bee-OH's "work", but he took the blame for the difficulties and did what it took to get it up and running. Hard to dislike a guy who can get things like that done in only a month, considering the magnitude of the screw-ups the programmers left intact.
-Still to be determined...but Bee-OH is promoting a change to the law to make that reality...IF (and that is a big IF) he can get Boehner and his band of cronies to allow him to make the change without insisting on attaching many of their nit-picking demands, thanks to the TEA party contingent's coercion)
-Still to be determined...Bee-OH cannot be held responsible for the number of doctors who don't want to accept the fees allowable under the ACA and decide to take their toys and play elsewhere...not much sympathy here for a doctor who makes $1,000/hour and wants to throw a temper tantrum about having to take less.
-Still to be determined, too...I hear horror stories, and I hear stories of successes. IMHO it probably is a function of how hard the person searches and what kind of policy they want.
-Still to be determined, too...more Chicken Little angst from the right, IMHO.
-IIRC, that was the first Bush POTUS who said "Read my lips--NO NEW TAXES" and then welched. Sets a nice precedent, don't you think?

Probably not the best president ever, but IMHO and in the HO of a majority of citizens of our great country, not the worst ever, either. His approval rate is at it's lowest and still seems to be miles ahead of the approval rate of his politically adverserial Republican politicians...whom the country's majority seems to hold responsible for the gridlock in Washington and the reputation of this congress as the LEAST PRODUCTIVE in 40 years.

Considering the TARP fiasco he was handed when Gee-DUB left office, and all the things he had to "fix", IMHO he's done an admirable job, and particularly when you take into account the number of campaign promises he carried through on. I hate to think where our country would be if Romney had been elected!

YOMV, and obviously does.

Cheers!

Doug
