Best Looking GT40 - Or Worst Looking GT40

[ QUOTE ]
I actually prefer the original look, with wires.

Good call Jim - and great photo! That's car P1051 which appeared in the original Ford GT40 sales brochure - unfortunately it's now in dark Gulf colours - with Gulf flairs ...

Cheers.

Sorry Guys,
Eat your hearts out. This is the best looking GT-40. CAV 1966 GT-40 MK1B in Ford 1997 Royal Blue Metalic paint. 302 crate engine from SVO with aluminum X heads + solid roler lifters + 650 Holley double pumper racing carb without choke + GT-40 intake manifold + 9 qt. Kevco baffled road racing oilpan with a 016 Getrag and a 5 button clutch and a 1000 amp Optima battery that cranks it to starting no matter what temperature it is even down to 18*F. Joseph,
You have any plans to put your GT on the track With all them roadrace accessories and horsepower your GT should do real well.
Might I suggest Run and Gun in August. We would love to see a CAV out there competing with the rest of us Walter Mittys. After three years there with my RFGT40 I have only seen one GTD and one ERA. It would be nice to see some of you CAV owners show up and show what that thing is capable of.
Besides I have the best GT because it's the one I picked and it's what I like color and all! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Joseph, great pics, and nice settings. I especially like the flowers/landscaping and nice brick work in the 1st pic. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif they really make the shot look great.

Joseph,
As Dan has pointed out. The photographic composition is absolutly beautiful. I truly enjoy the photos you posted.
I was having a little fun in hoping to get one of you CAV guys to show up at R&G to have some fun on the track.

Hi Hershal,

We have not met but I have read your posts over the last few years with great interest. I think you may be on to something good here, expecially for those of us who live near Phoenix. I am amazed at the number of GT40s in the area. Apparently there are, or soon may be, 5 or 6 RF40s and I think there is at least 1 ERA and 3 CAV cars including my own. Another GT40 fan is considering purchasing a CAV and having it shipped to Flagstaff which I understand already has 2 other cars. Does any other area have more? There may also be a GT40 NA but I do not know what happened to the dealer and the car that used to be in Scottsdale. By my count that makes the Phoenix area the most GT40 rich environment in the US and an absolutely prime opportunity for a GT40s club to start.

Can you just imagine leading a caravan of GT40s from Phoenix to R&G? Now that would be story good enough for Road and Track.

Bob

P.S. I look forward to meeting you and your RF40s crew.
P.S.S The picture is of 5 CAV cars (including mine) that just happened to all be finished the same week.

Hi Hershal, Bob and the rest of you GT-40 lovers. It never ceases to amaze me how much we love our GT's. As for going to R&G it is to far, not that I wouldn't love to go. As for driving on the track, I would have to "pass" because I have not had any training and I take care of my " BLUE BEAUTY " as much as I would to a 19 year old wife. I am very satisfied just to stop traffic no matter where I go.
Which happens every weekend that it doesn't rain. Joseph
PS: Thanks for the compliments on my pictures. Your cars are just as beautiful as mine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hi Love GT-40,
I am glad that you are one of the Italians with taste for beautiful cars. My wife who was born in Bari, Italy loves " Italian " cars, but hates my GT-40. A real sore spot in our family. If it wasn't for my GT our love afair would be perfect.

Hey Dan,
Actually you have it backwards. My GT makes the flowers/landscaping, brick work and the golf coarse look extra good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very beautiful car I would have to say one of the better ones, but then I like dark blue GT40’s. The best looking “Picture” is the poster of Fran Kress’s car 54 which I believe to be Guardsman Blue (someone please correct me if I’m wrong). I’ve seen many pictures of his car and they all seem to be different due to lighting, type of film, etc. What I would like is to duplicate the color in the poster, same hue as Guardsman Blue but darker. I have a die cast Guardsman Blue Cobra, when I hold it up to the poster it’s the same color but like I said darker. If anyone out there is a paint expert and can tell me how to do that please get in touch as I’m trying to pick a color for my SPF GT. Thanks. [email protected].

These pics are just car porn! However my vote goes to Mk 1, flares or no flares. Keep those pics coming. They just prove what excellent taste the users of this forum are blessed with.

For me it's the sensuous look of the original Mk I. My favorite so far is 1040, which is owned by one of our forum members. Here's a link to artwork from Dav3 Kurz:

THE REAL THING

Now, who couldn't like that stance, the flow, the whole package.

I'm drooling. Gotta go before I short out this keyboard.
