Diesel 016 ratios are good

Hey guys,

I should likly keep this as a secrete, but I thought I would share. My AAZ audi tansaxle recently failed and I needed something to get by. I found a Diesel 016 Audi and while it has a 4.11 rather than a 3.89 like the AAZ, it has a taller 3rd, 4th, and 5th. In 5th I have a 500 rpm drop over the other gears and I love it. The difference in 1st and 2nd is practically unoticable and I find the diesel ratios far more favorable. Anyone else have experience with this?

Casey, good to hear you like your replacement 016. What's the code on your new 016? I'm guessing you have either the 5N or AFC coded 016. I have an AFC and, like you, much prefer the taller ratios in 3rd, 4th and 5th.

3U is a diesel box (one, there are others). They've been discussed before, I brought two of them into the US about five years ago or so. Both were sent to RF owners and used to good effect. There are some posts about the boxes on the forum.
