Evenin all!

Hey Guys, Names Kane Griffin - Im New zealand born and bred.

have been thinking for some time about starting a GT40 project and have decided to start doing some significant research before I make a decision on wether or not to move forward.

Essentially Im thinking about making a pure racing GT40 - for use with Speedway New Zealand.

Theres a few problems with the idea - not least is the bugger of an engine position they want me to use {one or more sparkplugs must be behind the rear axle line} but IF the research and ideas work - I may just go all in and make it happen... After which I would race it and try to compete at a national level - my personal dream is to earn a national champions number to put on the side of the car.

Welcome to GT40s.com Kane...
That sounds like a rather ambitious project with some difficult requirements to meet. Possibly a transverse engine transaxle combination?

transverse would be effective - especially for keeping the engine low down - and is certainly worth considering - I originally thought of turning the engine around and running a 4wd gearbox, locked into high range 4wd and using the front driveshaft to go back to the diff under the engine.

Im going to be running very large tyres at the rear so space is a bit of a consideration as well. well i say very large, one side will be larger than the other due to only turning left LOL!!

Looks like a cool method Ian - sadly Ive been told that I cant use a transverse engine/gearbox is not allowed as the original was a north south engine and apparently it must remain so according to the rulebook {I actually had to check that, the rule book wasnt too clear on it!}

so back to the drawing board... kinda... Ive a sort of idea in mind - probably make you guys shudder to look at it but will try and draw it out to see what happens anyway.
