A terrific race, I wonder what work place health and safety would say about a driver staying in his car while it was being lifted by a crane? Both Hamilton and the crane driver must have been confident about the point of balance.
I missed the last lap thanks to bastard channel 10 letting the previous show run 20 minutes overtime.

Seems anyway Alonso made the first verbal attack to Massa..that simply wanted to say nothing (cause humiliation on track..)..then Alonso abused with offense and felipe react (telling him in italian...wtf.,.u have won...learn to drive man, learn to drive..touching the shoulder....).
On the podium Alonso gave excuses to Felipe..that anyway remained really disappointed.

Think thats racing...:)

Some excerpts from the after race Press conference;

Q: (Livio Oricchio - O Estado de Sao Paulo) Massa, what do you have against Alonso? And Alonso what do you have against Massa?
Alonso: Nothing, nothing it all. As I said, I will not talk any more about this. If I say something to him I apologise already in front of everybody, so I want to enjoy the win and there is nothing at all. I was not too happy at the end of the race because we touched each other but now, five minutes later on the podium I realised that this is motor racing, so I will not talk any more.
Massa: I don't have anything against anybody, I just do my race and I follow the rules of the sport, that's all. If somebody tells me something I did wrong and I didn't, I will be unhappy. That is normal. But if he has apologized, then that's fine. He knows he was not right after the race.
Q: (Andrea Cremonesi - La Gazzetta dello Sport) Considering that it was wet weather and the track was very slippery, which manoeuvre of Felipe did you not like?
Alonso: I will not talk any more. I like how we finished, I will not talk any more. I won the race.
Q: (Michael Schmidt - Auto Motor und Sport) In the beginning of the race many people went off at the first corner, you obviously didn't. Were you warned from the pits that there was a lake on the inside?
Massa: I was really lucky because I braked reasonably late when we just came on lap 2 or something and it was really wet. I was really lucky because I completely locked the wheels and I though I was going to spin off but I could manage to control and fortunately I didn't manage to spin off. I think Fernando had a difficult moment as well behind me.
Alonso: I was the same, braking at the same point as Felipe, locking in the same way the tyres and we ran very wide into turn one, just on the limit. I was taking the reference of him for braking and things like that. We all had problems at that corner, I think 22 drivers had problems there.
Webber: Yeah Jenson was quite quick at that point. I thought he was, not risking a lot, but anyway that is what he was doing. But anyway it was good information for me when I saw the spray stop and him sideways. Then he was looking at me going backwards so I knew it was a bit too late for him and I braked earlier.
Q: (Livio Oricchio - O Estado de Sao Paulo) Alonso, you are only 2 points behind your teammate. Does it change your approach to the championship?
Alonso: No, not at all. I have said many times, the championship is very long and I think there are seven or eight races to go still. So every weekend is an unpredictable weekend. Even here Ferrari is very, very quick and they were quicker than us on track conditions in normal conditions. Suddenly you have a mechanical problem in Kimi's car and you have rain at the end and McLaren wins the race. This is motor racing and in the next seven races I would not put any money on any driver, anyone can win because the races are a bit unpredictable. Knowing that I approach every race always thinking to do my best. Sometimes you have a better result, sometimes not so good. If I am at two points now, then in Hungary I will do my best. Hopefully I can keep scoring more points than the leader.

Very quick - watch out Lewis, he's even younger than you!

Plus he nicked "old" Jensens long standing record as the youngest driver ever to win an F1 point...

Should liven things up at the back.....:)

Mr Speed is not happy it appears.

Scott Speed has decided that he has had enough with Scuderia Toro Rosso team manager Franz Tost and launched an uncompromising attack on the Austrian in an interview with Speedvision.com's Adam Cooper.
Speed said ge did not want to go public about it but decided that he would because of Tost's behaviour.
"After the race Franz spent 15 minutes apologizing for his behavior, because it was clear to everyone that he was way out of line," Speed said. "But after coming out and denying this stuff, it’s just another very dishonest thing that Franz or Gerhard (Berger) have said in the media to damage me and Tonio (Liuzzi). And at this point, I’ve had enough. I know that it’s going to hurt Red Bull, and that’s definitely not my intention, because Dietrich Mateschitz and Red Bull have been a huge support to me. They’re the reasons I have achieved everything I have in motor racing. But Franz Tost, in particular, is out of control."
Speed said that not only did Tost hit him in the back but afterwards, out of sight of the mechanics, grabbed Speed by the shirt and pushed me against a wall.
"I was furious," Speed said. "I walked to the pit wall and wanted to inform everyone that this happened. So I looked at my team manager, the technical director, and Gerhard Berger, and told them that if my team chief ever touches me again, I’m going to knock him out. They said, ‘OK, let’s try to calm this whole situation down.’ I said 'Fine' and went back in my room and I stayed there until the end of the race. At which point Gerhard and Franz both came back. Franz was calmed down and spent 15 minutes apologizing for his behavior."
Speed says that he is worried about his relationship with Red Bull.
"Obviously Franz Tost and Gerhard Berger have been pushing the same dishonesty to the media, and I’m worried that might have ruined my relationship with Red Bull," he said.

Given Speeds's stellar track record it begs the question as to if the whole exodus was just a roose. Not a big loss to F1...

F1 Live's version of the spat betweem FA and Massa.

A bit of uneasiness on the Nürburgring podium

According to Agence France-Presse, European Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso accused Felipe Massa of deliberately hitting his car during the duel that opposed both drivers at the end of Sunday's race on the Nürburgring track.

A few minutes before the traditional ceremony, Ferrari's Felipe Massa approached McLaren's Fernando Alonso and shook his hand in the room adjacent to the podium. The folllowing conversation ensued in Italian.

FA: "You can't do things like that."

FM : "What are you talking about?"

FA: "Don't play smart with me, you know very well. You hit me on purpose, you turned the wheel to push me off."

FM : "What? Go f--k yourself!"

FA : "You f--k off! Next time I'll push you into the wall."

Alonso, decidely in a provocative mood, turned and smiled at the live TV camera as Massa walked away very upset, his dark mood still quite apparent during the podium ceremony.

Once tempers had calmed down as the post-race FIA press conference began, Fernando Alonso admitted that he had over-reacted.

"We touched each other two times and I apologise to him (Massa) because I was so stressed when I finished the race because we nearly didn’t finish the race. Now I try to enjoy the victory and forget everything," the Spaniard said as he sat next to Massa, quickly touching his neighbour's forearm in a friendlier gesture.

The Brazilian was still somewhat flared however: "I was really surprised when he came to say that I did that on purpose.
I would never do something like that on purpose. Like I said in Barcelona, it was normal, here it was normal and it's going to be like that. So if he was a little bit unhappy, it's not my problem."

"With Felipe at the end it was close but as I said before, I apologise if I said anything to him, because it's motor racing and it's a fight," added Alonso.

"We finished the race, so I don't want to talk any more about this and I want to enjoy the win," he stated, wishing to close the matter.

Prompted by the assembled journalists, Alonso returned to the delicate subject a few minutes later.

"I was not too happy at the end of the race because we touched each other but now, five minutes later on the podium I realised that this is motor racing, so I will not talk any more," he repeated.

The subject seemed to be closed for Massa also: "If somebody tells me something I did wrong and I didn't, I will be unhappy. That is normal. But if he has apologized, then that's fine. He knows he was not right after the race."

Bad tempers and apologies – on certain occasions, both are a part of motorsports...

Best race of the season, despite all the handbags at the end, was their any real explination as to how Alonso stuffed him to the flag, he did seem a lot quicker.

From Grand Prix.com

Ferrari is using Britain's Quest company for its investigations into the alleged espionage activities of Mike Coughlan. Quest is a private company that bills itself as "The Professional Intelligence Company". The London-based firm was founded by Nigel Layton, who was previously involved in fraud investigations at the accounting firm Price Waterhouse. He has recruited a number of high profile people to the board including former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens, Brigadier Dick Andrews, former head of army intelligence in Northern Island and Efraim Halevy, a former head of Mossad.
The company specialises in security-related matters notably asset tracking, crisis management, forensic accounting and surveillance.
Quest is best known for having conducted an inquiry into transfer fees for the Premier League soccer organisation but it has no more powers than any private individual in Britain and indeed in the course of its investigation of 362 transfers was unable to complete 17 investigations because those involved were unwilling to help.
What is not clear is why Ferrari is not embarking on a criminal action against Coughlan and why the team has made no move to take action against McLaren. It would be logical to do this - and indeed Ferrari did it in the case involving Toyota - unless, of course, there is insufficient evidence to make a case.

There has to be some substance IMHO but it is probably being multiplied by this sort of press as well. The last time that Dennis seemed to take a similar shine to one of his drivers was with Hakkinen and that is apparent with the youngster Hamilton now. If I were the spaniard I'd just shut up and keep collecting the salary.

Thursday, 26 July 2007 An extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council was held in Paris on 26 July, 2007. The following decision was taken:

"The WMSC is satisfied that Vodafone McLaren Mercedes was in possession of confidential Ferrari information and is therefore in breach of article 151c of the International Sporting Code. However, there is insufficient evidence that this information was used in such a way as to interfere improperly with the FIA Formula One World Championship. We therefore impose no penalty.

"But if it is found in the future that the Ferrari information has been used to the detriment of the championship, we reserve the right to invite Vodafone McLaren Mercedes back in front of the WMSC where it will face the possibility of exclusion from not only the 2007 championship but also the 2008 championship.

"The WMSC will also invite Mr Stepney and Mr Coughlan to show reason why they should not be banned from international motor sport for a lengthy period and the WMSC has delegated authority to deal with this matter to the legal department of the FIA."
