F1 in 2011

Argentina and Mexico would like places on the F1 calendar again - theyve already been there in a previous life. But Hong Kong trying as well ? Surely that would rate as a second race in China ! Imagine F1 cars whizzing through Wan Chai and past the ferry then up and down Victoria Peak or past the race course up to Butlai Sando (thats Jardines Lookout if you dont know the place) and on over to Stanley. Or a new circuit in the New Territories or over in Lantau. The mind runs riot.....
Of the three I think HK is the most exciting. The Chinese can do anything they want - and displace who they want if it's what they - the Chinese - want.

Seems like we will not have to witness the silly little 4 pot engined F1 after 2013, BBC have confirmed they do not want to continue the broadcast contract, and if Sky or some other satelite co get it the coverage will be 20% race / 80% adverts.

It's in the throes of a revival according to some pundits, though others think its just a last gasp before it slides down the pan. I also heard that BBC rumour Frank though I can't imagine Sky getting involved. Bernie might just try it on his own with a pay per view set up though we know his F1 TV failed miserably last time out..

Allegedly, Whitmarsh has come out saying that F1 has to be on free to air TV. How many people around the world watching are paying to watch or are you all seeing it on 'free to air' TV ?
News Corp - the negotiating arm of Murdochs Sky TV have approached CVC with a view to taking on the contract after the BBC relinquishes theirs at the end of the 2013 season.

You never know Louise Goodman could be the anchor person with her contacts in SKY TV.

I was talking to her in the car park of one of High Wycombe's supermarkets last week and told me she is still active in Motorsport broadcasting on a satellite channel.

Hamiltons Dad says bet on his son to win this year. Oh dear. He must think we are stupid. I don't know which tree he has just fallen out of.

It looks increasingly like the curse of the advertisements will return to F1 broadcasting from 2014. Allegedly, one of the largest TV ad agencies in Asia - - Dentso is already banging on the doors of ITV and Sky to get them more intetested to take on the contract.

Hong Kong has become the latest high-profile venue to express an interest in staging a Formula One grand prix.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The city's motorsport president, Wesley Wan, was left stunned when a crowd of 43,000 lined the streets to watch a demonstration event on Saturday involving Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari.

Wan is hoping such interest from the public could result in Hong Kong staging a race in the near future.

Blown exhaust systems will be banned from the British Gp onwards, and its use in practise may be outlawed from Valencia. Its something Red Bull seem to do very well and the rest are peeved they can't manage it as well, so they've got together and asked the FIA to ban it. What is does is deflects all the exhaust into the rear diffuser when the driver is 'off' the throttle.

Guys,

For those in the US who missed the Canadian GP, tonight Speed TV will do their F1 Debrief show. Its an hour of highlights, with Varsha, Machet and Hobbs, going over the last race.

Johm Wickham, the team manager at the Bentley(mainly the Joest Audi team really) in 2002 and 2003 during the attempts and finally the success at Le Mans with the SPEED 8 has taken over at Enstone as the boss on the Renault F1 Team. I guess some members of the race team, who took over after Pat Symonds, might consider that their noses have been put out of joint and now decide to call it a day.

As you have probably heard through the rumor mill, the Austin City Council is balking at sponsoring the Circuit outside of Austin, Texas. It is important for the city council to sponsor the circuit in order to have State of Texas financial support. The circuit is moving along on schedule. State funds are paid back after events are held (similar to other major sporting events in Texas). I have a link to send a letter to the city council to urge them to return Formula 1 to the USA. Their meeting will be June 29th to vote, so I ask that you send in a quick note ASAP:
