Can we get a general consensus then, that we can comment immediately after the race?
Those in different time zones can then avoid looking his thread until they have watched their recording.
As a comparison, I avoid looking at news sites and facebook etc. Until after I have watched the race if I have recorded it.
What does the moderator think?

I don't give a shit because I have learnt that most people don't give a shit either,
There are spoilers everywhere and I don't look at social media at all until I have watched a race I have recorded, and living where I do I am out of sync with the rest of the world most times. The GT40s forum is the politest of all forums I visit, definitely not a criticism. So go for it you won't spoil it for me.

There is a lot less blocking in MC racing and a whole lot more passing. Maybe they need to remove the mirrors off cars, or make crashing a car a lot more painful.

Did you happen to see the Moto GP from Mugello this weekend? LOTS of passing, BIG HAIRY passing. Nobody crashed or cried as a result.

Even Alonso was impressed.

Yes I did, I love MotoGP, a great pity that Rossi had an engine fail.
Latest rumour flying around is Lulu will miss Monaco.

The next wild rumour is now firing in formula one, ahead of the championship's 'jewel in the crown' event in Monaco this weekend. Corriere dello Sport, an Italian newspaper, reports that a mysterious incident involving Lewis Hamilton's attendance at red carpet events in Cannes last week could mean the world champion sits out Monaco this weekend.

The story could tie in with Pascal Wehrlein's last-minute test in the Mercedes last Wednesday in Barcelona. "Yes, I would be ready," Wehrlein told Sky Italia after testing on Wednesday, when asked if he feels ready for a race seat at the silver works team. The young German admitted the call-up took him by surprise, as he received the phone call at 8pm on Tuesday evening and only had his Manor-branded helmet with him.

Corriere dello Sport did not have any details of the apparent Cannes nightclub incident except to say that it might involve "stolen photographs". Autosprint, an Italian specialist publication, said the incident reportedly happened at Cannes' Gotha Club. The reports also said Mercedes officials were already not happy with Hamilton, who had been asked to test in Barcelona but refused.

F1 legend Alain Prost, meanwhile, played down the crash between Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in Barcelona, although some drew parallels with his own legendary run-ins with Ayrton Senna. "These things happen in racing and you have to accept that," Prost told Germany's Auto Bild. "Of course if it happened every weekend, that would no longer be acceptable." (GMM)

Watching the latest clip Pete posted seemed to indicate Nico was not "feeling" completely innocent.

There is not a driver on the grid, when closing in that fast on the car in front them, that would not have taken the shot. You see this all the time, and 99% is works, unless the driver in front does what Nico did. Justifying a overly aggressive block, simply because one is in front, with this kind of closing speed, takes this beyond the threshold of reasonable.

Terry, agree 100%

Pete, heard you the first time ;-)
Interesting if true, almost unheard of in modern day F1.
Await further developments with baited breath (whatever that means!)

The reason there are no comments us because we are not allowed to comment on the race for 24 hours or so to allow those in different time zones to watch the recorded race.
It's a stupid rule as by then, we've lost interest and moved on!

It's not a rule Chris, it was just a consensus after people who had delayed viewing opportunities complained. Personally, I care not and like others commented, I studiously avoid media if I'm bothered which I'm not.

So I suppose I would say, in light of the lesser amount of people commenting than say 5 years ago, perhaps we should just carry on and do what is natural..After all, we're in the 'European bit' now and time zones should be static for a while.. It's entirely up to you Dear Readers..

You old gossip Pete! :gorgeous:

23.30pm Saturday. Guess the scenario for tomorrow ! Ricardo leads of with a good launch, Hamilton goes with him, Rosburg outside of Hamilton arriving first corner, Hamilton still tied to the back end of the Bull, but needs Rosburg behind him up the hill, squeeze, Rosburg puts rear tyre in wall and takes out Hamilton, Red Flag, ?

The circumstances around the result certainly don't need me to say anything, but, the sport's fascination with celebrities is rapidly eroding whatever dignity it used to have. Why the f..k was that justin kardashian kid featured...?
Looked like he was Hamilton's new priest.
Hamilton is starting to sound and behave a lot like that kanye kardashian guy these days... Sadly...

Wasn't a bad race though.

Have to go now, have to put out the recycling and kardashian bins.

I agree Tim what was that all about! I thought it was Lewis's new BF not his priest.

The boy was not happy. However, although he lost 6 secs to Hamilton during the botched tyre stop, he would still have been behind even if it had been slick, so no amount of team strategy blaming can alleviate the simple fact that Lulu was quicker on the day. Robbed? I don't think so..

Unless you Belieb different that is (see what I did there?) :lipsrsealed:

Actually Keith he was held in the pits for 13 seconds, when a normal pit stop is 2.8 the win was gifted to Lulu.
Wtf was Belieber doing there anyway, and Lewis kept the Royals waiting while he talked to the no talent prick. Bloody rude Lulu.
I have been a critic of Lewis for sulking and throwing his toys out of the pram in the past, that Mantle past to DR today, harden the f&ck up Dan.
Drive of the day Perez great effort.

Er yeah no Keith, I have to disagree with you. Even without the bad choice to go to intermediates instead of holding out for slicks as the new messiah did, the botched pit stop cost him the race. He entered the track only slightly behind, without the 10.5 second handicap he would have entered quite a way in front and I think the race would have continued in the same way things had been going all weekend. Things are very different if you are in front in F1, especially at Monaco.
Racing is always what ifs and buts though.

I hope it's obvious given past discussions that I don't blindly follow a driver/rider for patriotic reasons and I am not particularly a fan of anyone in F1 these days..

I have found myself disliking Hamilton more and more as the cross Atlantic influence takes hold on him but I think he drove a good race and the one close call he had with his smiliness was close but fair enough IMO. Did he earn it - I guess, but not as dramatically as he seemed to be trying to convince everyone post race.

As for the harden up comment - maybe, but the team cost him wins twice in a row, and he is obviously putting in a big effort so I am ok with his (comparatively mild) behavior.
I think he did a great job in interviews after it happened - especially compared to kanye lite in his pre race interviews...

Tim.

Spot on Pete, 100% agree.
Pit stop was the difference - Dan was only just behind LH as he went up hill after St D!
Also during that pit stop we saw just how fast F1 is along s/f straight. The aerial shot of Dan coming out of pits showed just how amazing is the acceleration- just watch Lewis not in shot as Dan exits-wow !!
