Facet fuel pumps 480532E

Hi
I’m trying to revive a GTD40 registered in 1992 (all new parts).
It has two Facet fuel pumps which refused to pump but I’ve managed to get them going again. It has stainless steel braided hose some of which has developed a leak.
I need help deciding on how to proceed based on today’s modern UK fuels.
Any suggestions on the type of hose and which fuel I should be using.
Thank you

Welcome Jo

I would suggest Car Builder Solutions for the hose either braided or not

Would definitely get the ethanol safe stuff even though more expensive

They also do new Facet Red top pumps but a bit cheaper here https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/...QIwkIgeb8qMX1LIb044yMclCbLfEUpjAhXQZaMSpl4OjM

Hi
Thanks for such a quick reply and the links.
I’ve got a birthday dinner to pay for this weekend so I will look at the prices after I’ve paid for that. I definitely think I’ll be looking the ethanol safe stuff.
What grade of petrol do use.
This car has a 302 Ford Marine engine- nothing fancy - i can’t remember what I was using in 1992 although I do believe it was unleaded.
Thank you again

Think Automotive also can supply all the bits you need. Just going through the same exercise myself. Matthew Potter at Think knows his stuff in this regard

Thank you, let me know how you get on, you may be quicker than I am as may have to remove both sills to get at everything and figure out new a new route for rhs tank.

Jo, look at the entire fuel system, not just the pumps, this a critical part of your car but one that so often just a collection of incompatible parts. Consider the accurate control of flows and pressures, but also the safety aspects as mentioned elsewhere on this forum. Do it once, dont burn it up ! Frank

I am looking into all aspects of the system, and checking out what has changed since the original installation of the facet set. The original set up worked well. I definitely don’t want to burn up, and don’t want everything to be degraded by today’s petrol and its ethanol content. So at the moment the choice of braided hose is my main concern.

The new braided hose i will be getting from Matt at Think Auto is compatible with the new fuels. I am expecting to be able to re use the hose fittings from my old hoses with it where the connections remain the same. Some things will be different as now fitting fuel injection via the Borla 8 stack system to replce my trusty Holley 650 double pumper. Have my sill panels off currently if you want to remind yourself of whats behind. Am located near Camberley Surrey. My car is a 1990 chassis from GTD so similar age to yours. If you followed their build manual as I did then we should have the same set up. My project is slightly delayed as I accidently cut my little finger off 2 months ago! Whoops! Woodwork not cars so you are all safe if you stick to cars! Hope to be back on the tools soon.
